Hearts & Wreaths

The applique of block 5 for my Hearts & Wreaths quilt.

I love the the scissors on this purple fabric!

First the embroidery is completed. I'm working on 4 blocks at a time so I embroidered all 4 of them. Then I appliqued the hearts on all 4 blocks. Then I auditioned the outside circle of leaves and took some off. I needed to add more dark leaves, otherwise the leaves all smeared together when viewed from a short distance.

The last time I posted about Hearts & Wreaths, someone asked me what size these blocks are. They will be trimmed before sewing together, the finished size is 16".

Here is more information Hearts & Wreaths.

It's amazing how many small pieces you're applying to a block that's only 6 inches, Gretchen!!!
I also do love the violet fabric with those sissors and the light blue/teal with pins. Beautiful block!!
Have a wonderful Sunday!

I love watching this one! I think if I ever knock off 10 UFO's I might attempt something like this. Until then, I'll enjoy watching your's grow.

You have a wonderful view out that window! I'd be gazing out instead of getting my work done!

You picked the perfect background for this block - white would have been to stark in contrast. Absolutely love everything about this little block. Isn't it relaxing working on a small block like this? Makes the idea of making a lot of these much more palatable knowing how enjoyable it is. At least that's what I'm telling myself as I'm EPP a grandmothers flower garden all by hand...and I AM enjoying every tiny little stitch! Deb E

Oh my - that block is wonderful. Excellent job on that applique too.

I knew I definitely didn't want white background fabric. I think the applique goes reasonably fast. I did start a new EPP project last week but that isn't progressing very fast, it's a low priority project. I EPP'd a grandmother's flower garden quilt years ago, I really enjoyed it and I love my quilt. Happy stitching!

I cannot wait to see this top finished. All those little leaves just leave me gobsmacked. And all those different fabrics? Sigh.
