Another Block for Hearts & Wreaths

The 6th block for Hearts & Wreaths has been appliqued. This block was finished before I went to my retreat a week ago. The applique goes relatively fast, it's the prep work that takes so long!

The blue heart fabric is the same design as block 5, it's has the scissors in it! Except this fabric is blue instead of dark purple.

Here is a link to my first post about Hearts & Wreaths. The blocks will finish at 16".

I did take along 4 background squares for Hearts & Wreaths to the retreat. The chain stitch embroidery was completed on all 4 backgrounds.

Gretchen, another gorgeous wreath you have stitched! I can just imagine how long the prep for each wreath takes. All those itty bitty leaves.....oh my! Loving all the pretty fabrics you are choosing for each leaf.

Six down, how many more to go? The block is so nice it wille be gorgeous when done. I can see all those little leaves would take ages to prep!

The pattern calls for 20 blocks but I'm going to make my quilt square. So I need a total of 25 blocks which means 19 more blocks. Sometimes I wonder why I do this to myself but I'm an addict! I just can't stop myself!

Just beautiful Gretchen. How did you cut out the large 16 inch background pieces? Is there an easy way to achieve that size accurately?

Gretchen Weaver said...

I cut all my background squares at 18". I like to have plenty to trim off. When all of the blocks are appliqued, I'll trim them to 16.5". I'll lay them on my mat and trim them.
