The 3" finished sashing was quilted across the quilt along with the left and right side borders.
There are four sections of this sashing that was quilted. The quilting design runs through the sashing both directions. I'm not stitching in the ditch around the yellow cornerstones.
Again I'm showing you a picture of the flimsy before the quilting started. I'm ready to start quilting the top row of pieced blocks.

towards the end of the quilt I always get ready in mind to get it off the frame - the next quilt on is planned the backing is bought and the batting too. Mine is getting to that point as well.
I like how you're quilting through the cornerstones, what a good idea! Beautiful stitching as always, makes me want to get back to hand quilting again.
It is almost a finished quilt, so beautifully hand quilted. It is a masterpiece.

I don't know that I necessarily have a favorite of these stencils. The blue outside border and the inside blue sashing are using the same stencil. I have this stencil in 3 sizes and it is used a lot for outside borders because it works for me. I like the white border stencil because it looks right for that border. I like the curvy triangles for the applique center because I think it's the right one for the center. And I like the pieced block stencil because I think that's what looks the best for the pieced blocks. When I piece a quilt, I think about how I want this quilt quilted, what I want to emphasize and how well it shows. I have quilt tops hanging in the to be quilted closet that I've hung stencils on the hangers that I want to use. I don't know if I've answered your question but I tried.
Sampler blocks are always so fun to quilt; each one is like its own new quilt so you don't get bored of repetition. This quilt is so beautiful, and I love the choice to quilt the cable continuously through the yellow corner stones.
I love your quilting! It inspires me to get back to finishing a quilt that has been lingering in my UFO pile. It is about 1/3 hand quilted. I always think I should just start with 1/2 hour a day. It is getting that first stitch in that is the hardest part.
Sometimes I don't feel like quilting either. I just tell myself I only have to quilt until the thread in the needle runs out. But by then, I'm in quilting mode and keep quilting. Happy stitching!
This is such a spectacular top, and your quilting just adds to it. The medallion quilting is genius, so exciting to be close to a finish!
