Blue Stars Around the Garden, the Center & Hand Quilting

For several weeks I've been appliqueing the center for blue Stars Around the Garden. This is why the hand quilting progress has slowed down.

Hopefully I'll finish appliqueing the leaves this week then I can progress with sewing the sashing and blocks. I never cut the sashing segments ahead of time because I have already trimmed the center incorrectly (trimmed too much) then needed to make adjustments in the sashing.

I did make some hand quilting progress this week.

The center white sashing puckers didn't quilt out as well as they did on the other side but the right side had been especially bad. It does look a lot better than it did before quilting.

I had taken a close up of the quilting of the center after I quilted it this week but it disappeared into the void of wherever pictures go.

I think it's amazing that those puckers in your vintage top are quilting out at all! I would have probably taken it apart in frustration. And your applique is so sweet.

once is is washed and dried and perhaps a little crinkly I bet it will look good no matter if there are puckers still in it - you have done amazing things with that top that had gotten

I think the center will look just fine. This quilt will be so happy that you have taken the time to turn it into a quilt!

Your Stars Around the Garden center applique is so pretty, and does look like it would take awhile! Love the pretty blues and yellows together!

Your applique is gorgeous. Embrace the puckers of the vintage quilt. They add character!

Beautiful applique! And the quilting is really coming along. You have done wonders with the puckers, especially in the white areas, and the result is lovely.

I've lost pictures into that void, too, so at least your pics will have company when they get there...
I always enjoy seeing your handwork!

I did think about taking it apart but I've already have partially finished quilts here at home. I wasn't going to do that so I gambled the puckers would quilt out. I'm glad to see they are.

Beautiful applique Gretchen. I know how hard it is to fit everything into the time you have for quilting. I am the same, trying to finish an applique top and piecing a pineapple quilt....oh and of course my new found love of knitting!

Oh, I think a few puckers add charm to a quilt. Besides, I doubt one will notice it as they will only see your amazing quilting. Your applique flowers and leaves are beautiful. I cannot wait to see this lovely quilt in all it's beauty.

I went back to your earlier BSATG posts and found a link to the pattern. Wow! What a lovely design. Your blue colorway is ideal.

I've often thought a blue & white would be perfect for this pattern. I want to get these blocks and applique sewn, I'm planning on this being the next flimsy into the hand quilting frame. Thanks for stopping!

The blue appliqué is wonderful. I really like the o mixture of blues you’ve chosen. Anyone who gets the lovely, even looking stitches you do is a winner in my book! Puckers are a problem for all quilters. If you are a wash before use quilter the puckers will just give more oomph to the washed look!

Your Medallion for SAG is going to be so beautiful and striking with the blocks previous posted! I will be doing mine in batiks! At least I hope I will! LOL. Beautiful work! Hugs

I don't always wash after quilting but this one is definitely going to get a soak (because there are reds that bleed) and wash.

Beautiful rescue in progress with the hand quilting. You're spending plenty of time with needle and thread with these projects.
