Quadrangle

I started the 3rd quilt for Joanna right after I finished Log Cabin Hearts. The pattern I used is Quadrangle, Quadrangle is a free pattern from Moda. I first saw this pattern when Becky, from Quilted Twins, showed the quilt she made from this pattern.

Fabrics left from the first two quilts were used in this quilt, those were blue-teal fabrics. For this quilt I've added the 'seafoam teal' fabrics from my stash. I actually have more seafoam fabrics than blue-teal fabrics. As usual, I made the quilt larger. My finished flimsy is 93" square, it seems all the quilts I've made Joanna are square quilts. And, for some reason,  Blogger wants this paragraph centered. Of course there is no arguing with Blogger. 😳 😉

First I sewed foursies then added the sashing. Even though I kept counting, I still made too many four patches. Most of the sashing is the dark teal used for the border of the Log Cabin hearts quilt. When that fabric was gone, another dark teal was substituted but it's a shade lighter. That's okay, this quilt is about using it up. And yes, some purples popped in there also.

I had purchased a teal jelly roll before I made Teal Stars since I knew those stars were made from 2.5" strips. When I unrolled the fabrics, I thought they were too random and didn't really blend well. They were perfect for this quilt though, there is an assortment of varied teals in this quilt.

Not all the strips were used in the quilt, there were enough strips left to become the binding.

The outside border is fabric I had purchased several years ago when I knew I was going to be making teal quilts someday. I like the mix of blue/teal and green/teal in the flowers. There is also some touches of dark blue in there.

When you looked at the pattern, then look at my quilt, you see my sashing is different. I must have had a brain freeze because I thought there was actually cornerstones between all the 4 patches! I realized that after I had them all pieced, oh well. I used them anyway, why not?!

This isn't a hard quilt to piece. Someday I will probably make this pattern again, perhaps I'll experiment and cut the 4 patch squares larger.

This flimsy has been delivered to Calico Point for long arm quilting.

Quadrangle was #8 on my long list of quilts to make this year. I know I said I planned to make the 2024 BOM's patterns from A Quilting Life but I also reserved the right to change my mind to patterns. What is important, is all 3 flimsies are finished and at the quilter.
