What I Sewed at Retreat

Here is an update on what I sewed at retreat last week. My intention had been to piece all the posy blocks for Garden Party but that didn't happen. All I did was sew the posy blocks!

I brought home 10 partial blocks and need to piece 15 more. I'll get those blocks pieced and all of the blocks squared before putting them into timeout. Sometime I'll piece the alternate chain blocks. Garden Party is #4 on my list of 2025 Projects.

Garden Party was designed by Bonnie Hunter and can be found in the Addicted to Scraps book. I did find a website to purchase only the pattern.

The only shopping I did at retreat was from the sale table.  I purchased this pattern because I thought it looked like me. I've never made a machine applique quilt and this looks like the perfect design to start with but that won't be happening in the immediate future.

I paid $5 for the pattern. I found a used pattern online for $18 if you are interested. It doesn't bother me to buy used patterns.

I also purchased this folder book for $1. I haven't had time to browse/read through it yet but Donna said this would be a good investment.

Pretty blocks - and looks like you had a great time at retreat. I don't mind used patterns either.

What fun to go on retreat! Very cool blocks: I know you will create something fun from them. Your applique is coming along As I was doing my own yesterday, I was curious as to what technique you use. Some of those pieces are so very small, and you do such a precise job witht them.

Nothing wrong with a used pattern and you get the pleasure of making something you love to do.

Lovely blocks! Sorry you didn't get all the ones done that you wanted but you soon will I'm sure. So glad you had a good time at retreat. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Your garden party quilt blocks are so bright and happy. But I'm drooling over the Sue Nickels pattern. Can't wait to see you work your magic with this pattern.

I love how disciplined you are with your buying and quilting schedule! Most of us can learn from you, for sure!! I made Garden Party a few years ago and it is one of my favourite quilts that I have made and I am enjoying seeing your progress.

Your Garden Party blocks are beautiful. Thank you for sharing the link, so I can see how the quilt should be sewn. I really like it.
And I hope you enjoy working on it.
The "Flower Basket" pattern looks wonderful, I hope you'll show us how you'll work on it.
Cheerful greetings from Viola

The applique pattern looks like me too and I would have definitely bought it. Looking forward to your Garden Party finish. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down.

everything I bought during retreat was from the clearance aisle. Actually that's not true. I bought a pair of scissors and insulbrite and then the grip hearts that were on sale.

Hello! New here… I am so happy to have found your blog! I’m new to quilting…at 73…lolol…I know, a bit late in life but I am enjoying the journey. Your quilts are absolutely gorgeous! I’ll be following you (not literally as Bl ogger has a problem in letting people follow blogs… can’t seem to get the problem resolved). Anyway, looking forward to reading your post! I’ll definitely be adding you to my blog roll…
Hugs

I recognized these blocks. Garden Party is on my to-do list. Can't wait to see what colour you will use for the 9-patch parts. Flower Basket is gorgeous. Yes, this pattern has your name all over it in white and blue. Enjoy! ;^)

I'm blown away by what some people manage to achieve during a retreat. I'm too busy checking out what other people are doing to actually do my own work. So, kudos for you for getting blocks done. The fabric with the white daisies on a green background sent me back to my teens. I had a tent dress made from a similar fabric and wore it with oversized ~3" sq felt daisy earrings.

Your posey blocks are very pretty. Love all the bright colors. Isn't retreat the best thing to do? Time away with friends, good food, and hours of sewing whatever you want - it doesn't get much better. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
