We received snow in the snowstorm that went across the US. I'm not sure how much we received, anywhere from 6" to 8". It's cold now. It was -6*F at 6 am. I asked Siri what that was in celsius, -21C.
That temperature does not include wind chill factor which those of you in more temperate climates have probably never heard of.
This weather is perfect for hand quilting.

I did double lines on a couple quilts over the years and love how they look - we get snow later this afternoon, it is freezing cold here at 11 degrees
The alternating double and single line is perfect. I may need to copy the idea on my current quilting project.
Your border quilting looks beautiful. Love the snow photo. We are supposed to get a little bit of wintry precipitation here in north Texas. It is 9 here this morning, so we are definitely staying in today. Enjoy your cozy day!

The wind is really whipping here on Long Island. With the temps dropping fast I am sure the windchill will be near 0F. I love your quilting. Yes, that extra line means extra quilting, but I think it looks fantastic and I know you don't mind the quilting. Enjoy your stitching and stay warm.

Smart move on adding the additional stitching line. It fits like a glove with it there! It is cold here too although not as cold as where you are! Goodness. . . .Istay warm and safe!
I'm afraid my mind doesn't register those frigid temperatures. You say "cold", I say freezing! Perfect thought on the double stitching line. Your quilting is looking lovely.
I think it's cold no matter where you are in the country right now! Your quilting is beautiful on this border. I'm glad our hobby is a good one for cold weather!
The quilting is so beautiful as is the applique' border. It is worth it to do a little more work if it makes our quilt sing a happier tune.

Beautiful quilting. That storm must be huge and brutal to affect such a large part of your country. Even down here in New Zealand we often hear of the wind chill factor in winter, usually just a few degrees different though.

I like the handquilting pattern! It is freezing here for 3 days Ice is on the pine trees. 20 this morning chill factor about 12 or below. can you believe it was 80 degrees warmer in September -- reminds me of how winters used to be here in South Texas. hugs...sorry for bad typing!
Your quilting looks beautiful! The photo of the snow is amazing. We are the opposite here. Expecting about 90 degrees F with clear blue skies. Happy stitching!

Gretchen - beautiful work. And I agree, this subzero weather has been perfect for stitching. We are finally emerging from it - temp right now is a positive 5 degrees!!! Another snowstorm on the way, but I am fine with that!

We had near blizzard conditions and somewhere between 9 and 12 inches of snow between a couple of different snowstorms over a span of about 3 days. Not only that but we've had FRIGID temperatures - down in the double digit negatives with wind chill. We've not had a storm like this in a while. They closed the roads leading into and out of town and stopped plowing at one point as the wind was blowing the snow back across the road as fast as it was plowed. We could get out and about here in town but today was the first time we ventured out of town. Snow was piled up on each side of the state highway about 4 feet on each side. It's snowing again tonight with expectations of another 2-3 inches of snow.
We stayed inside and I worked on quilt projects...mostly scrap projects as that's what I was in the mood to work on during the storm.
Great going on the quilting! It will be fun to watch the quilting grow! Thanks for sharing on Monday Musings!
