I've been reducing my 2.5" box and the 2.5" squares box. There are still strips and squares but not enough for larger projects.
In her July 17 post, Cathy told us how she had used the last of her 2.5" strips and squares and made 9 patches. She also gave us some ideas of how to use the 9 patches.
I've take some of my strips and squares and made 9 patches. Since the September RSC color is orange this month, I sewed orange squares and made this little crib quilt. It finishes at 43" by 50".
This simple quilt is a straight set. It will join several other crib quilts I've made this summer and will be quilted this winter.
As I've said before, orange isn't my favorite color but this bright crib quilt is going to definitely stimulate a baby's sensory development!
I'll be making more 9 patches in a variety of colors, you'll see another crib quilt sometime. I think the next crib quilt will be set on point just to be different!
My goal has been to reduce the amount of strips and squares, not to completely empty the box and it's happening!

I love this quilt! It's perfect for Fall :)
Cute! You will see the bottom of the 2.5 inch scrap boxes before you know it!
orange isn't usually a favorite of mine either but so far I have liked the RSC orange projects I am working on. I think this quilt that you made is looking good and someone will love it for sure.
Very pretty! Plus quilts are probably my favorite, and I like the different colors of centers you used.
It is pretty and a great use of your 2,5" scraps. It is so happy in orange and will be appreciated.
Well done Gretchen!
I was on a roll running all my scrap pieces through the accuquilt, I have a lot of 2.5" squares. Not in a hurry to use them but this is a great idea. Funny how some of the simplest designs draw the most attention. I love it. Thank you for always linking up to Put your foot down.
So sweet! makes me think of orange sherbet!! LOL
Just lovely, and I like the way you have added a touch of different colours with the centre squares.
Such a sweet quilt. Nine patches are one of my favourite ways to use up my scraps, there are so many ways to use them in a quilt.
What a lucky baby that will be to receive this quilt, Gretchen!! Looking at it makes me smile.
What a lovely and cheery quilt, perfect for sunshine days. Those of us who love orange always hope to get more “converts”, LOL, and this delightful crib quilt could be a poster child for the beauty of orange!
For a girl who doesn’t love orange, you have some fabulous fabrics! Well done! I like the orange/ green combos!
That's a pretty one, Gretchen! Great idea for a simple and quick baby quilt!
I purchased a fat quarter bundle of oranges several years ago from Connecting Threads. Some of the fabrics I liked, some were too bright for me so they ended up in this quilt. They look good in this quilt.
I wouldn't say I'm a convert but I do think this quilt looks nice.
I love all these bright oranges in your nine patches! You're right, babies do like bright colors. Whoever gets this will be a lucky little one.
This is such a happy nine patch quilt, Gretchen. I love it !!! It will make a little one quite happy. Such pretty pops of color in the center blocks. So glad you was able to make a dent in your 2.5 strips. Again another inspirational post. I can not keep up with all the things I want to do after visiting your post each time. Lol. Have a fabulous weekend and happy quilting. Hugs
This is a bright and happy quilt. So lovely to work through your scraps. Thanks for linking up to TGIFF!
It is a beautiful quilt for a baby. Nine patch blocks has been such a great block to use for so many projects. It is so happy and vibrant.
The orange looks great.....
What a bright and cheery little quilt!! 9-patch blocks are simple but have many different options to set them apart!
I do love orange and that baby quilt is wonderful! In particular I love how all but one block have green centers. That blue center is just wonderful.
I LOVE THIS! So simple & fun & darling. May need to borrow this idea. Wink, wink.
Lovely. The colorful centers add just the right amount of playfulness. Thanks for sharing with oh Scrap!
