Here are the teal Modern Amish blocks I'm piecing for the
RSC. I didn't sew any of the blocks for February, I'm not going to add orange or yellow to this quilt.
The middle teal is a green teal, the top and bottom blocks are blue/teal and they NOT the same fabric.
It's interesting to see how the different shades of background gray makes the colored fabric look different. I've set the same colored fabric blocks next to each other.
Because I'm an impatient person and because this is going to be a Christmas present and because I want this quilt finished, I went ahead and sewed the purple blocks.
The middle purple is a mulberry shade, the top and bottom purples are different shades of purple even though they look the same in the picture.
The original name of this pattern is Sound Check but I've renamed it Modern Amish. The pattern comes from McCalls Quilting magazine, March/April 2014 issue and was designed by John Kubiniec. I've done some revising and only need 36 blocks for my quilt. Original post from January. The blocks will finish 10" by 12".

What a neat idea to play with color like this. I saw a quilt at QuiltCon a couple weeks ago that also used shades of gray to make colors look gradiated. So neat!
This is going to be amazing. Love the 'Amish' theme and colors.
Oh I am loving this! and yes! the impatience was good , then we get to see more of your blocks!!
Isn’t it interesting how colors change as you lay them next to each other or different colors. Teal is especially had to decide if it is blue, or aqua, or turquoise, or green!
i love your quilt! i've made something similar, but i really like how your blocks are rectangular! are they kona solids?
lots of shades of aqua!
Wow, that is really interesting to see how the grey makes the same fabric look different. I love the modern Amish blocks.
Yes, these are all Kona solids, Kona has such a huge selection of colors!
Some people just can't play by the rules!! :P
This is going to be a really interesting quilt! I'm looking forward to the finish!
I can't hrdly wait to see this come together. Love the Amish colors/look! The grays are perfect background colors.
