Redwork Embroidering & Hand Quilting

Vacations are supposed to be relaxing and embroidery is relaxing so I combined the two. Here are the blocks I embroidered while I was in Phoenix.

These embroideries were designed by Gail Pan and were selected from two of her books, Christmas Patchwork Loves Embroidery and Simply Christmas No. 3.

Since I've been home, I haven't touched my embroidery needle, I've been quilting. I'm too close to finishing Floral Triangles to spend time embroidering.

This was the block I was quilting when I left in February, since then I've completed the rest of the row.

Another block.

These yoyo flowers are so cute! I wonder how they'll hold up over the years?

Left side border.

This row is quilted, time to roll!

Starting the quilting on the top row which is the last row! Right side border.

Right side half triangle.

And a whole triangle.

Oh wow the end is nearing and your beautiful quilt will be gorgeous. I think those yo yo's will withstand a lot more than you think. With all the red work you completed your vacation must have been very relaxing.

I work hard enough at home. It was wonderful to spend time with my daughter watching the Crown and embroidering. That's not everyone's idea of a vacation but I thought it was a fantastic time away from home.

Floral Triangles won't be finished this week but I'm hoping to be finished with the main body of the quilt and entirely quilting the top border. I'm going to try to progress that far anyway.

I'm glad to hear that about the yoyo's. There's a quilt that hangs on the wall In the breakfast room at the Jane Stickle retreat. It has yoyo's on and some of them have come undone. It's been that way for years and it drives me nuts when I see it. Maybe I'll sneak down to that room during the afternoon hours and fix them at the next retreat. I know this quilt has never been washed so I don't really understand why they came unstitched. Yes, my vacation was very very relaxing. I didn't spend as much time walking as I normally do but that was ok.

I bet you will be happy to have this one done and be able to use it. It really is a beautiful quilt. I like your embroideries, I have a set of Santa's set aside and haven't worked on them since last December when I grew tired of them and need to get them going again but have too many other things I'm working on.

I hope you were in Phoenix for a really long time because you really got a lot of embroidering done! And it all looks lovely. Your quilt is looking wonderful too. I'd keep going on that if I were hand quilting it and almost done too. Hope you get the quilting finished today!

You did ALL that embroidery while on holiday? I'm really impressed with your output. Hope you also had time to eat out, visit places of interest, read a book perhaps? And, I have to say once again, I love your hand quilting on that gorgeous quilt!
