Decent progress was made with Lady Jane this week. I finished the two flowers in the top corners and also four different flowers that were started last week.
The center circle has a little batting added to make it puff. I didn't press the applique so it's rather wrinkly.
And the 2nd flower.
People often like to see what the back of the applique looks like, here is the first flower. I will be hand quilting this quilt so I cut the excess fabric off the back. If I wouldn't have had, when I stitched in the ditch around the center circle, I would be quilting through 3 layers of fabric on the top, this way there is only 1 layer. It probably doesn't matter for machine quilting but I'm not expert on that type of quilting.
And the 2nd flower.
I thought this flower looked a little blah so I added black french knots above the center applique. They look nice close up but you don't see them you are at a distance.

I like the puffiness in the flowers - I cut the back out too of the flowers so I can quilt in them if I wish

You really do have the perfect fabrics on hand for this! It is coming along so prettily. Hey, Gretchen, is it difficult to manage the puff in a berry while getting a nice smooth curve for the circle?

I stitch most of the circle until there is about 1/2" not stitched. I push the batting in, try to arrange it so it's not bumpy, then stitch the rest of the way. It's not hard to stitch then. Thanks for commenting!
Lovely appliqué, your flowers look wonderful. Cutting the extra layers is probably a good idea for hand quilting.
