Welsh Beauty

There was a lot of the center medallion to quilt in this row. Even though there are feathers to be quilted, they quilt faster than the cross hatching.

As you can see from the photos, I didn't quilt those horizontal fronds, I quilted around them. After I had quilted everything else, I rolled enough to quilt them.

Here are the sections that were quilted after the short roll. Compare these pictures with the above photos.

Now the quilting is even across the quilt. I'll roll and start quilting again.

This is a link to the first post about Welsh Beauty. It has information about thread and batting. I did change the color thread for the feathers and flowers. I'm using a variegated blue thread instead of beige/brown.

Are you tired of hearing about my Amaryllis flowers? This is the last time I'll talk about them this winter.

Remember that one bulb I showed you earlier, the one that was taking forever to bloom? It's blooming now! It's a lovely ruffled red Amaryllis with 2 flower stalks.

The first stalk has 4 flowers, the second stalk has 5 flowers! What a lovely end to the Amaryllis season.

This pot is a picture of the baby planter. (Which Blogger has kindly put at the end of the post) All of the baby bulbs are in this pot. One of 'babies' was mature enough to flower, it's a lovely apple blossom flower!

I've marked that bulb with a plastic fork so I can keep track of it. When I plant the bulbs outside this spring, I'll gently pull that one out of of the bunch and plant it with the larger bulbs.

Double Delight

The rolling stone blocks are all pieced and I've started arranging the blocks on the display floor. I don't have room to distribute all the blocks but most of them are arranged.

The blocks finish at 9" and on point measure 12.75". The rolling stone blocks are arranged 7 across and 8 blocks down.

I need to cut the inset corner triangles then sewing the blocks into rows will start.

Once the center is completely sewn together, I'll decide what I'm going to do about a border.

Double Delight is a free Bonnie Hunter pattern from her website. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where the old mysteries are listed.

Flower Patch Sewalong, Blocks 10 & 11

Here are the next two blocks for the Flower Patch Sewalong, blocks 10 and 11.

Block 10 . . . .

And block 11 . . . .

I noticed Anne-Marie modified her tulip block so I modified my block this time. My tulip didn't turn out as nice as hers but that's ok.

Here are the blocks arranged on the display floor.

Hearts & Wreaths

Another block is completed for Hearts & Wreaths, block 12. Of course this block really is the prettiest one so far.

I also took a picture of all 12 blocks arranged on the display floor, it's so exciting see the quilting coming to life. I really like the bright colors on the soft yellow.

The yellow in the above picture is true to life. Apparently the secret to having the yellow the right shade is to take the photos with a snow background!

As usual, here is a link to my first post about the Hearts & Wreaths quilt.

Double Delight

When I pieced the yellow square/square blocks for Double Delight, I ran them all through the sewing machine, chain stitching as I went, pausing only to press two sides then chaining the other two sides. It was very boring and tiring.

I decided to not sew all of the corner sections at one time, sew a group, then piece several blocks together. I made 12 more blocks, which means I have 19 of the 56 needed blocks, just 37 more blocks to sew!

I didn't have room to display all the pieced blocks, besides, crawling around on the floor doesn't do knees any good.

I know I said I was going to use a single fabric for the stars but I changed my mind. I like alternating with a dark star then light stars.

Double Delight is a free Bonnie Hunter pattern which is located at the very bottom of the free pattern page. This lovely design isn't a quick sew pattern but it's worth the work. If you are a 9 patch lover, this is a pattern I suggest you consider making someday.

Welsh Beauty, Another Roll

Quilting this row was so much fun! I had a lot of the center medallion to quilt, a welcome relief from cross hatching.

Here is the row, from left to right.

There was supposed to be another picture in that bunch. The quilt is symmetrical. In between picture 1 and 2, should be a photo that is the same as picture 3 but turned around, if that makes any sense.

The 2022 Hands 2 Help Kick Off  starts today. Sarah is unable to manage coordinating the drive this year so Mari has volunteered to do the organizing for her. You can read about it here.

We had snow after it rained so the snow stuck to the trees. I took photos, the first photo looking east toward the trees bordering our driveway.

The 2nd picture is looking west toward the west fence row of the heifer pasture which in the wintertime becomes the sledding hill.
