Climbing Jacob's Ladder, the Applique

I've revised the applique for the Climbing Jacob's Ladder quilt to suit me. The outside borders is where I'm placing the applique. The applique is only in the center of the border, not full length like the pattern shows.

The first border has been completed. The background is pieced but I'm not showing you the whole strip. The length of the applique is 34". This quilt really needed those red tulips for some contrast.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

I love your tulips... and just having them in the center makes them pop for sure! Will look nice on your brown Jacob's ladder blocks :)

I also love the red tulips. Having them only in the center will really make them stand out and be noticed.

It is a beautiful applique, looks for those tulips, all the points and the circular parts are perfect. You are amazing Ghretchen!

Looks great. I contemplated only doing the corners with applique on my quilt but then decided all or nothing!!

Lovely. Know your limits, and do not overdo.

very pretty, the birds and tulips. I always love the revisions you make - I'm curious if you're dropping the applique inside the quilt center and moving it to the borders, or keeping the inner applique and adding the centers in the borders?

The applique is on the outside borders. It would have looked lovely running through the blocks but I didn't want to do that much applique. If I make a smaller quilt someday, I might applique the way the pattern says. Thanks for commenting!
