Slow Hand Quilting

Some weeks just a little progress is made on Floral Triangles, this week I made it across the whole row!

This was row 4 which is the center row of the quilt, I'm more than halfway finished.

Left side border.

The yellow flower is an original hexden flower the pattern called for.

I'm not pleased with them, think they look rather boring.

The blue flower is not a hexden flower, it is circles of alternating fabric sewn together with a circle in the center, so much more interesting. What do you think?

Another hexden flower, boring! I think the curves just aren't deep enough.

Still another hexden, this time in pink.

Another circles flower, this time fussy cut. I love it!

Right side border.

You all have a great week of stitching!

I like the little hexden flowers; they add to the beauty of the quilt, though I see what you are saying about the flowers of many circles. The fussy cut flower is pretty. I truly could look at your beautiful quilt forever. It must be a joy to quilt this pretty each time and gaze upon all of the beautiful details. I can just imagine what it looks like in real life.....it is beautiful!

I love looking at your quilting Gretchen! I just love this quilt too and all the colors in it... I do agree that the other flower not a part of the pattern but your own creation is a bit more interesting in texture once quilted than the hexden flowers.. but I think when you are looking at the whole quilt when done they will all thrill me... I love this applique you do and how you quilt to make each area stand up and look so pretty... Have a blessed week my friend. Kathi

I don't think the hexden flowers are boring necessarily, but I do agree that the curves aren't deep enough. The variety in your quilt does make if very pretty though. I am mistaken, this quilt is gorgeous as is your amazing quilting. I so enjoy seeing your updates.

I actually like the hexi flowers. I do see what you mean that the circle flowers have more movement - especially the fussy cut one. Right now you are focusing on each thing as you quilt it. Once the entire thing done and focus is on the large scale, it is just beautiful.

I like both - having the variety makes for a fun quilt. I always smile when I see this one. Thanks for sharing.

Looks fabulous as always! My fave flower is that fussy cut one... the fabric really makes it interesting to look at.
As a beginning appliquer, I think the hexden flowers would be easiest to applique because of the gentle curves :)

You're right, once the quilt is finished, those hexden flowers won't stand out as much.

Actually the circle flowers are fairly easy to make but they're harder to quilt because the background fabric isn't cut out behind the flower so I'm quilting through more layers. And you don't need to EPP it.

I like it all but if you aren't satisfied with the flowers maybe you could put a little quilting on those flowers to give them a more curved appearance? I love this quilt

Your quilt looks so happy and fun! I really like both flowers, although now that you point it out, I can tell the difference. Both look very nice with the quilting around them accenting them. https://stitchingirlblog.wordpress.com/

That quilt is a work of art! I was staring at those flowers thinking they were charming, but perhaps you could define the petals with lines of stitching from the centre so they would be more pronounced?
