RSC - The 5th Saturday

Pink 9 patch blocks were made this month for a project that isn't a RSC project. The 9 patch project actually has more than enough blocks but 2/3rds of them are blues. It needs more variety so I made pink 9 patches using 1.5" strips.

Then I pulled all the pink strips left in the 2.5" box and made 16 patch blocks. These were the pink strips left after piecing the pink easy breezy blocks.

There wasn't a lot of variety in the pink fabrics but they worked. My plan is to have sashing in between the 16 patch blocks.

I'm determined to lower the amount of strips in that box and I am happy to say the box is actually a little diminished!

9 Patches

The trays of 9 patches are finished. This picture is the large tray of sections I showed in my last post about the 9 patches. I have more than enough blue 9 patches now.

At another time I'll make more 9 patches but not blues. I'm kind of 9 patched out right now.

I haven't checked out the new Blogger format. I'll probably wait until the last minute and see how I get along.

If I can't navigate the new format I may quit blogging altogether or else change to Word Press. Until then I'll keep using the old program. I may wait until my daughter comes for her next visit a so she can decide what I should to do.

Piecing 9 Patches

I'm not working on a major project right now. Spring is a busy time of year so I've started piecing 9 patches as an easy start & stop project.

I'm making lots of 3" finished 9 patches. I make most of my 9 patches with strip piecing.

I'm piecing both types of patches.

Fabrics left over from other projects are being used.

The blue 9 patches are for Bonnie Hunter's Double Delight pattern.

Of course I'm making this a full sized quilt, there will be more patches than I need but you can never have too many 9 patches.

The light cornered 9 patches are for this quilt. Nine patches with squares in between, easy peasy.

This fabric looks blue but it is actually turquoise.

I'm not sure what the black patches are for but I envision something with dark reds and golds.

There are 3 tray full of 9 patch sections ready to be sewn.
