Quilting Elegant Garden

Before I show you the progress on Elegant Garden, I need to show you pictures of the trees surrounding our home.

It's the maples that turn the pretty colors, the oaks don't do anything until December.

Okay, now onto the hand quilting, I accomplished a lot since I posted two weeks ago. The quilting on both sides of the narrow brown border was completed then I could roll and reach all of the blocks.

When I quilted around the bud and flowers on this block, I had to be careful quilting around the french knots. I really like this block.

I'm quilting the top part of the wall quilt now so all of the blocks are upside down. This block took several nights to quilt with all of the leaves and flowers.

This is the first block of the row on the right side. I know it looks right side up but I thought it looked interesting in the quilt with the flower pointed down.

Those little buds are a pain to quilt around but they do look cute.

This is the last block of the row, the background fabric stitches hard! The fabric feels thicker when I stitch.

Here is a picture of the row in the order they're supposed to be.

The first thing to be quilted next will be the row seam between the blocks that will be stitched in the ditch. Then block quilting will commence.

Most of the blocks in the next row won't take that long but the 4th block from the top, the one with the blue flower center, is going to be very quilting intensive.

I had thought there was a chance the quilting would be completed before the Jane Stickel retreat this week but that's didn't happen. Oh well, you can't speed up hand quilting.

I think I told you one time that these blocks finish at 6", that's not right, they finish at 9".
