Another row across Rhapsody in Blue has been quilted. Rhapsody in Blue has been pieced and appliqued with my friend Elaine and will be sold in the Michiana Mennonite Relief sale September 25, 2027 (yes, the 2027 date is correct). I know that is more than a year away but once the quilting is finished, the quilt will need binding and a label. This amount of time also allows time to have the quilt displayed to hopefully attract more interest in bidding on it.
Here are pictures from left to right.
I'm still not sure about this applique. Elaine and I will decide after the rest of the quilt is finished if I need to add quilting to the background in this sashing.
This flower is in the center of the quilt.
This pictures shows the quilting the best of all the pictures. I think quilts with feather quilting look so elegant.
Here is a link to a post from August 31, 2025. Scroll down and you will see pictures of the Rhapsody in Blue flimsy on my bed. You will see the applique border I just finished quilting on the bottom of the quilt. I'll start crosshatching the patchwork border next but, of course, I'm quilting all the way across the quilt so there will quilting of all the various sections. It makes the quilting more interesting. The cross hatching goes fast. I should be starting the center section in two weeks. Also, I'm also almost finished with the applique section of the border on the left side. That quilting will go faster since I'm not stitching in the stitch around all the applique.

The quilting works so well with the design. That's a lot of quilting, glad you gave yourself time to do it without rushing.
The outlines around the flowers are so precise. Beautiful!
Your quilting is a work of art! Your stitches are beautiful!
Your hand quilting continually amazes me. I strive to be half as talented.
I love to see this quilt, it's so pretty and your hand quilting is beautiful. I agree, feathers have something special and your quilt is elegant. Thank you so much for sharing it and linking up!
Ah, there is nothing like slow, elegant quilting. I'm sure there will be LOTS of interest before the sale.
Your quilting is exquisite, Gretchen. Like I have said before, you are an inspiration.
So beautiful. The neatness of your hand quilting is exemplary.
You girls are so incredibly talented, Gretchen! You might have to buy her back at the sale…this one would be so hard to let go of!
Absolutely amazing, I love the colors and pattern, so well done.

Your quilting is just gorgeous. I wish I could hand quilt like that, but I know it takes lots of practice. It's a beautiful quilt.
Your hand quilted feathers are spectacular, and no one does blue and white quilts as beautifully as you do. I hope this quilt brings in the money that it deserves; it's a masterpiece.
I had forgotten how gorgeous and big that quilt is, so thanks for the link! It is just spectacular.
I’m drooling over here ….. the quilting and appliqué are so gorgeous!
Gretchen, you quilt is one of the most beautiful I've seen. I can feel the love, patience and thought. What an heirloom this is! Thank you for sharing!
This is such a beautiful quilt, Gretchen. You two have done a fantastic job on it. Will it be raffled or just highest bidder win? Whichever, it should raise a lot of money for your project. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
