The 121st block for the Stonefields quilt is named Apple Blossom, it is the last block to be made for this quilt!
My apple blossom block are yellow delicious apples, my favorite variety. For fun I fussy cut the leaves.
Here's a picture of the blocks in sections 9 & 10.
The current plan is to put the blocks away until autumn. I'm rather burnt out on Stonefields, it has become an endurance project instead of fun. I'm more excited to be outside mowing green grass and planting flowers! I'll be motivated and ready to start again on Stonefields in the fall.
I've had these fabrics on a small separate table in my sewing studio since last July. My first Stonefields post is dated July 27, 2025.
The larger pieces of fabrics have been refolded and placed back in their tub. Most of the smaller pieces have been cut into strips or squares ready for their respective boxes. I normally cut 2.5", 2" and 1.5" squares.
For hand work I'll spend my evening time hand quilting the relief sale quilt. The quilting started last August, I'm going to try to see if I can have it finished by this August.
Every month Elaine invites a group of us to her home and we each work on our own handwork projects. I think de-papering the backside of my Carolina Lily blocks will be a good 'handwork project'.

Wow, what a huge project this has been. Now it rests while you rejuvenate! Now go outside and touch grass!
The fussy cut leaves really add to the most recent block. The blocks are all gorgeous, but I can see why you might want a break. You have some other fun projects to push forward till fall gets here.
I love the yellow delicious apples. You've done really well to get those blocks completed in less than a year! Enjoy mowing the lawn now. :D
The last one!!! Perfect timing for the summer outdoor work to come. Love the fussy cut leaves. I too am putting projects on the back burner so that I can get outside. There will be rainy days and early mornings here and there, but my flower beds and new raised beds need to take a priority. Happy planting.
Congratulations on making it through all those blocks. I think you did an amazing job the way you fussy cut the fabric for the leaves.
Wahoo! You've finished constructing the last block. That is a huge milestone! I love your fussy cut leaves. Good for you for giving the project a rest. I agree, endurance quilting is not fun quilting and we need to have fun!
So exciting, Gretchen! Yes, Stonefields has been a serious commitment and I’ve loved seeing all of your blocks along your journey! Thanks for sharing.
This has been quite the long term project for you--I can well understand you getting burnt out:))) This will be such a beautiful piece--love this block--so pretty--congratulations on finishing ;)))
hugs, Julierose
I love the fussy cut and these cute little yellow apples. Bravo for achieving this huge project, resting a bit from it before finishing is a great idea! Thank you for sharing them all and your process, and linking up.
