The first two blocks in section four of Stonefields have been completed. They are called 'Angel Wings'. There was supposed to be only one block with this design but I decided two were better.
Here is block 38 . . .
And block 39.
There was supposed to only be one Angel Wings block but I decided that block 39 should be the same as 38. Why? Because this is my quilt and I can do what I want.
In the patterns, block 39 was supposed be the same as blocks 40 and 41 which are called Mirror Mirror. Two blocks the same are enough.
Block 40 which has my favorite blue floral fabric,
And block 41 which also has a pretty floral in the center.
Both of these blocks appliqued very fast. I might come back to the Mirror Mirror pattern if I decide to replace another design.
Stonefields is designed by Susan Smith. Chris and Rebecca Grace are also stitching along with me, we're each working at our own speeds.

"Because this is my quilt and I can do what I want." -- You're the best, Gretchen! Love how you chose the florals for the mirror blocks. The little circles are cute too. Have a great week. Can't wait to see more.
All the newest blocks are beautiful, you picked a wonderful set of fabrics for the applique. I'm a huge fan of "it's my quilt and I can do what I want".
Such pretty blocks!
This is going to be beautiful! I love blue.
Your blocks in blue are beautiful.
I started my free-cutting technique today; it's really fun. The fabrics are all earth tones. I'm not entirely sure... after my beautiful colored quilts—but something new can't hurt, right?
I was also pinching myself at the pottery market, but I couldn't buy anything because I was going to the opera right after, and I was worried it would get damaged in the dressing room... well, money saved... I really need more fabric than pottery... I'd be interested to hear what you liked.
Best, Viola
It has taken me too long to understand that I can do what I want with any project that I am making. Sometimes I like to stick to the pattern, but not all the time. Your blocks are lovely. I particularly like the angel wings block.
Beautiful blocks, and of course you can do as you want! Love the blues, one of my favorite colors!
Well how adorable are these blocks! Love them, Gretchen. You are moving right along . Have a great week and happy Quilting-.
Those are fun looking blocks. That angel angel is stunning!
The angel wings are beautiful! #40 and #41 remind me of old-fashioned cameos. Loved "this is my quilt and I can do what I want" - what a great way to start my day!!
Such a pleasure to watch these beautiful blocks come to life in your capable hands, Gretchen.
I can see why the block is called Angel Wings. So pretty in all of those blues.
What size are your blocks? And how many total are you supposed to make? Lovely applique! Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
Isn't it bizarre that we even have to give that disclaimer that it's our quilt and we can do what we want? Why is that, I wonder? I feel the same way when I change things, like I have to justify my decision to the imaginary quilt police. Maybe in my next blog post I should just tell the truth, that the Voices in my head are ordering me to change the pattern... ;-). That way I'm "not guilty by reason of insanity." Those angel wing blocks are gorgeous! I'm going to dip back into Stonefields today too.
Beautiful work 👏
You are so right, do the blocks that speak to you! I love these new ones. You are going to have your own private version of Stonefields, and it looks goregous so far! Thank you for sharing your progress and linking up, I love your blue blocks!
Love the blocks, especially the angel blocks and the fact that you can do it just like you want! LOL Your work is amazing. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
Gretchen these new blocks are beautiful and I love your attitude “ it’s my quilt so I can do what I want”. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday 🤩
