I don't usually have two posts in one day but today I do. There are lots of pictures of very pretty quilts for you to view. Here is a link to my normal Sunday post about my Elegant Garden quilt.
Last week, Wednesday through Saturday, was the Sauder Village Quilt Show in Archbold Ohio. I drove out Saturday to view the show and to bring home the quilts the farmer and I delivered a week ago Sunday.
My Hearts & Wreath quilt received a 2nd place ribbon for hand quilted quilts!
I thought the lighting seemed a little dark in the corner they had the handquilted quilts but the quilting actually shows better in this picture.
I took pictures of other quilts that I liked, as usual applique projects dominate the pictures. If this works right, each quilt picture should be followed by the tag of the quilt owner.
This first quilt was made by Rebecca Yoder who grew up in my area. She does beautiful applique and has a first place ribbon every year in this show. Becky's tag says she made this quilt in the quilt as you go technique.
This next quilt should look familiar, it's Elegant Garden! She didn't finish the blocks the Edyta did but I like those diamonds in the borders.
The embroidered quilt was handquilted, it just seemed dark where these quilts were displayed but again, the quilting shows up so clearly.
This was the Best of Show winner. I talked to this lady about her quilt, she machine quilted it on her domestic machine, each block separately then sewed the sashing and finished the quilting. She said it made quilting the blocks so much easier than the whole quilt at once but it was challenging to quilt the sashing. I've never done a quilt as you go quilt, maybe I will someday. The quilting certainly was nicely done.
You can see the quilting better in this photo. Sorry, I didn't do the best job of cropping.
Here is a link to a list with the Best of Show Quilt and list of each division winner. I know the list says 2024 winners but it's not, it's 2025. Someone just forgot to type the right number, been there, done that.
I'm sorry I didn't post about the show happening in last week's post. I'll put a sticky note on my calendar to remind me next year to let you know ahead of time. You could attend if you are in the area. In case you wonder how far I live from Sauder's, I'm 2 hours west or, as Siri told me, 98 miles.

These works of art, one quilt is more beautiful than the next... I really wouldn't want to have to pick the prettiest one. Thank you so much for the photos you took... so beautiful, I'll be back again... it's simply a delight. Thank you and congratulations for your ribbon for your wonderful quilt.
A big hug from Viola.

Congratulations on your ribbon Gretchen :-) Thank you for sharing these photos - the quilts are all beautiful.
Well done with the wreaths quilt ribbon! Congratulations! Lots of stitches in all those beautiful quilts.
Congratulations! Yours is my favorite. I am so impressed with the 94 year old quilter and how sad that she is the last quilter in her family. I see she did her quilt in the early 1990s, so it has held up remarkably well.
WOW! My goodness, there were some stunning quilts there. Thank you for sharing. xx
I'm in awe of your quilt and all of these beautiful applique quilts. Congrats on you ribbon.
Congratulations on your ribbon! It is well deserved! And thank you for sharing all of these lovely quilts. There are some amazingly talented quilters!
Congrats on the ribbon! Thank you for sharing the quilts, they are impressive. it was interesting to see the 2 that were quilt as you go. I'm trying the technique now with my walking foot. It's impressive what you can do with free motion quilting!
Congratulations on the ribbon. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
Congrats on your ribbon …. It was well deserved!
lots of eye candy but have to say hearts and wreath is my hands down fave...
What beautiful quilts are on display at this exhibition.

Wow! What gorgeous quilts. Congratulations on your Ribbon! Thanks so much for sharing all of the pictures. ~Jeanne
Way to go Gretchen! Knew it would be a winner. I'd sew that ribbon to a sweater and wear it everywhere. Lol. Such beautiful quilts. Makes me want to start another applique quilt.
Hooray for your ribbon! Such wonderful recognition for a job well done! You deserve it! And thank you for all the photos of the applique quilts in the show along with the comments from the creator. I really enjoyed them!
These are all beautiful, Gretchen, and congratulations on your ribbon. You do such beautiful work! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
some of those quilts are even better than the ones at the AQS in Paducah - congrats on your ribbon - pretty quilt and quilting
Congrats on a 2nd place ribbon! Thank you for posting quilt show photos as I was unable to attend. I live two hours northwest of Archbold. Regarding Best of Show, I find it difficult to free motion a large piece. Quilting as you go may be an option.
