Three Elegant Garden blocks were completed while I was in Phoenix visiting our daughter.

I'm trying to use some of the unused fabrics in the civil war tub. I have limited pink fabrics but I think what I have will be enough to finish the blocks.
Elegant Garden is an older quilt pattern designed by Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts. Her instructions call for machine applique but I'm appliqueing by hand.
I'm slowly adjusting to being back in Indiana with the gloomy days of no sunlight. The light looks different though when it snows.
This is heavy wet lake effect snow, the kind of snow that gives you a heart attack from shoveling if you are not physically fit.

Your blocks are gorgeous! Patterns designed by Edyta Sitar never disappoint--especially when done by someone as talented as you, Gretchen. I just love looking at how neatly done your stitches are and your spin on each project. Great job using those scraps.

I love your photos of winter! Those kinds of views are evocative for me. It was in northeast Oklahoma, but it reminds me of the times I was cozy in my parents' house with dark winter outside. :)
We don't get as much here in central Indy, thankfully! But it doesn't help when we want to sled!! LOL Love that block 6, and I bow down to your choice to do it by hand. Wow!
Your blocks are so pretty. I am especially drawn to #7. I believe it is because my geometric math mind likes the symmetry. I like your idea but for me it is the blues of winter that I see. Adding a touch of red or yellow would certainly draw the eye.
So glad you had handwork on your travels. I know I like to keep my hands busy in the car or in front of the tv. The blocks look amazing. The snow always looks so cozy and comforting despite the lack of heat. Enjoy your holidays.
