Fall cleaning happened several weeks ago. The living room furniture was moved back while the quilts in the rafters were removed, the rafters were dusted and different quilts put on display.
This is Star Dance. Her finish was posted here.
9-Patch & Hourglass. Here is a link to the finish. This quilt has been shown before, she was one of the original quilts displayed when we first moved into the new house.
Many of you watched my applique and hand quilting journey with Hearts & Wreaths.
While the tall ladder was inside the house, the farmer dusted the triangle windows. I didn't have him wash them, I thought streaky windows would bother me more than dusty windows.
Some people have expressed concern about him climbing up such a tall ladder. His response is he climbed up to the top of the silo on the farm for 50 years to adjust the blower. He no longer wants to or needs to do that. Climbing a 12 foot ladder is not a problem at all.
The Christmas cactus have come out of their quarantine in the garage and are now sitting underneath the south windows in the dining room. This is actually the same place they occupied on the porch except now they are inside the house instead of outside.
They're still loaded with buds so I'll have blooms for a long long time.

Your quilts look stunning on those beautiful rafters. My Hubs has finally given up climbing tall ladders - we had an off-duty fireman come out and put up some permanent Govee--style lights on our eaves. He worked "for tips only" - what a nice young man. I agree with you about dusting windows instead of streaking them with liquid. Our daughter used a squeegee on hers with no cleaner, and hers looked amazing.
Lovely, Gretchen. I bet they give a homely feeling to your home.
The quilts are displayed beautifully. Great to see the farmer climbing the ladder. Our philosophy here is just keep moving.
Wow, Gretchen! You have an amazing display area for your gorgeous quilts! Just beautiful!
Wow Gretchen, that's a big job getting your quilts up on the rafters! Lucky hubby is not afraid of heights or ladders.
What a wonderful way to display your quilts. I bet it's nice to be able to see them every day.
Gorgeous quilts! My amaryllis are in the garage now.
What a dazzling display of quilts. I understand the farmer. . .what's 12 feet when you've been up much higher?? It's good that he is able to apply some of his farming skills indoors! Had it been my dad, he would have left me to do it myself because it was indoors and therefore not his responsibility!
Such a lovely way to display your beautiful quilts. Your cacti are looking lovely and appreciating being indoors no doubt. xx
Wow - the rafters are a perfect display area for your quilts. Lovely plants. My short ladder will come out today so I can switch the big quilt hanging on my dining room wall.
I remember you working on Hearts and Wreaths. All of those quilts are gorgeous. Enjoy your new displays. Happy Thanksgiving.
Good morning! I wanted to say that I thought about your lovely quilts on display several times yesterday and that you inspire me to want to make more intricate and involved quilts. You are truly an inspiration and thank you for sharing your work!
Beautiful way to display your beautiful quilts.
I didn't know you had those wonderful rafter displays of your quilts in your home. How wonderful to be able to enjoy them that way! And your Christmas cactus plants are so healthy and beautiful! I tried having them once but I think I overwatered or something; I remember the branches turning black and falling off. They looked pretty pitiful by the time I gave up on them!
How lovely to have new quilts up to admire. All beautiful!
What a great way to display your quilts! I love your hot-pink cactus (I wish mine was that vibrant).
