Blue Embroidered Blocks Quilt

The Blue Embroidered Blocks quilt came home the same day the purple embroidered quilt did. I did not embroider these blocks, I purchased them off the resale table at the Jane Stickle retreat.

I used the same sashing design in this quilt as I did in the purple embroidered quilt and Radiant Blues.

The finished quilt measures 94" by 96".

The quilting is a Baptist Fan design, a perfect quiet overall background design. Calico Point was the quilter.

The backing fabric is this beautiful paisley fabric I purchased some where years ago. It's been waiting to be used in a special quilt.

This quilt will be going to granddaughter Lydia, she's a blue girl.

The pattern for Radiant Blues was designed by Marsha McCloskey and is located in the January/February 2007 issue of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting.

The blocks were purchased from Patty Harants. She won't be able to attend the spring retreat this year but I'll be taking this quilt along to the November retreat to show her the finish.

The purple embroidered quilt as well as this embroidered blue quilt turned out to be wonderful. You did those embroidered blocks by turning them into a finished quilt a blessing. They will be treasured keepsakes.

Ooh, ahh and just gorgeous! A true family heirloom with a shared heritage no yet. When you give these to family members do you label them?

I haven't been labeling quilts lately, I guess I should start again.

It's a beauty! The first quilt I made was a cross stitch kit (1973-74).

Me too! I started the blocks during Christmas vacation of my senior year in HS. I was sick so I wasn't allowed to go to any gatherings. I kept working on those blocks and had them finished in a year. My mother was shocked! I still have that old quilt, it's worn but it's a treasure to me.
