You can see the border in the top of the picture.
Lovely daffodils.
Another unknown flower, any ideas?
I was unable to mark the center circle in the lilac block so I just did a free hand circle.
When the quilt is out of the frame, I'll show you the back so you an see how crazy my freehand circle looks.
This tulip is a cutie!
These are Chinese Lanterns.
Last Sunday I said I had a project that was top priority for the week. That project is completed and here's a photo to show you. (I've blocked out the personal information.)
This is a counted cross stitch wallhanging to celebrate the birth of a friend's first grandchild. She did the stitching but didn't want it framed so she asked if I would finish it for her.
She ok'd the fabrics I pulled and this is what I came up with. I'm very pleased, so was she! It measures 15" by 18".
I've made great progress with the new blogger format. One thing I haven't learned is how to delete a photo from the post. Open for answers here! Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another. Gretchen, to delete a photo from a post just click on the photo and press delete and it will disappear. Also I have read that bloggers have said they can only insert one photo at a time. By playing around I have discovered if you press the control button and click on each photo more than one photo can be added at any one time. Now, for your gorgeous embroidered flowers and your astonishing quilting.....love them all! I think the flower you are wondering about is an asian bleeding-heart. The cross stitch is beautiful too. I love the sentiments and all the sweet little elements.
Your hand stitched flowers and quilting are gorgeous. Nice finish on the cross stitch it will be a lovely keepsafe for your friends first grandchild!
Beautifully embroidered flowers in an interesting layout. Will you be posting a photo of the complete quilt? Your mystery flower in photo 2 looks to me like sweet pea.
Love the quilting of the circles and they sure look perfect to me!
I've already started the quilting on the top border, it shouldn't take long to finish. I'm hoping to have the binding attached for a complete finish next Sunday, come back for the reveal!
The circles are perfect because I use a stencil. If I was freehand quilting them, they wouldn't look so nice.
Oh Gretchen, I love your quilty progress and hope the info your first answerer gave you helps you delete a photo... I thought that looked like a bleeding heart variety as my best friend just sent me a pic that resembled that one! lol
I love that baby announcement cross stitch your friend made and you made into such a lovely wall hanging too! I made mine into pillows the kids snuggled...all that got lost in a house fire though...
Have a wonderful week my friend... Kathi
Oh I could almost smell the lilac! They don't grow down here in Texas but my mom always had some in her garden in northern Il. I am stumped by your unknown flower too. Kind of makes me think it was a poppy but then not, sorry I am no help.
I have heard some say the new blogger is ok to use and others have problems - I'm glad I don't need to learn it!
Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt
You quilt is beautiful, and the unknown flower is a sweet pea
Your quilting is just lovely and the embroideries are charming! Yes, the mystery flower is a sweet pea. My grandmother used to have them growing in abundance up a wire fence and I always loved them. They won't grow for me even though I've tried several times.
Such nice embroidered flowers! I love how the quilting circles looks with the embroidery. You are such a great friend to help with the stitchery - the fabrics perfectly offset her stitching.
It's just a new format to learn, in many ways it reminds me of Word Press.
Hi,
Great progress done on your quilt..love the little
quilt for your friend..so cute...have a great day!
Gorgeous quilting and great progress on your quilt!
It's always fun to see your hand quilting progress! I was going to say the same thing as someone previously did - to delete the photo just click on it and hit your back or delete button.
No idea about the name of these cute flowers, but all of them are beautiful, and your hand quilting always so pretty. The embroidery frame is lovely too, the strippy binding perfect!
I agree with Kim about Blogger, I would have say the same.
Some varieties of sweet pea look a little like that flower, especially that twisty thin tendril. I like the quilting you're doing on all the blocks, whatever they are. You framed the XS nicely!
I think the mystery flower could be a sweet pea? Love seeing your amazing hand quilting, it always inspires me! The birth announcement is so cute; I love the finish on it! Try and stay cool this week!
Beautiful quilting, as always.
The cross stitch embroidery was very nice with borders all around.
Wishing you a great week!
The quilt will be so beautiful! I love the cross stitch and the border you put on it! Think I had some of that fabric.....Pretty pretty!
Ditto the other ladies who identified the sweet pea. Lovong the circular quilting you are using
