Hand Quilting the Week of Christmas

Even though it was the week of Christmas, it was quiet and calm, not much action around here. So not only did I finish the machine quilting on the feathered star quilt, I finished another row of hand quilting on Floral Triangles!

Close up pictures of the individual triangles and borders.

I still need to quilt the seam line between the two rows. That was just a little too far for me to quilt nicely so I had to wait until I rolled.

Row 3 is completely finished and the quilting on row 4 will start today. Row 4 is the middle row of the quilt, progress is happening!

I also had a small embroidery project this week. I forgot to make a label for the feathered star quilt. It's now sewn on and that project is a complete finish.

Oh my goodness! This just keeps getting more and more gorgeous, Gretchen. Glad your holiday was so productive. I love watching your stitch results each week. Someday... Someday I will be inspired to hand quilt something. I really appreciate all the work of the stitching around the applique. I love how the stitches intersect the diamond piecing perfectly. Just, WOW! Wishing you a happy and healthy 2020.

close to the middle that is always a nice feeling - I might have asked you before but I have forgotten - what batting did you use - I like what looks like puffiness in this

Gretchen your hand quilting is so lovely. Slow and steady pays off! I need to layer up one of my finished tops so I can get back to some hand quilting :)

You are coming right along with your hand quilting. It is lovely. Are you using cotton or polyester batting? It looks like the unquilted fabric is standing out nicely with the quilting.

I've fallen in love with the way wool batting hand quilts. I've used a Hobbs Tuscany wool batt. I think too the quilting shows so nicely. Thanks for stopping by.

This is row 4 which is the center row. When I've rolled to the center of this row, then I'll be halfway finished. I hesitate to guess an end date because who know what's going to happen between then and now. It will be finished when it is. Happy Stitching!

It's gorgeous! I worked a little bit on hand quilting a small table topper during the blizzard. But the grey light just wasn't good for seeing my stitches or my markings. Plus I'm very slow at hand quilting.

Hi Gretchen! Gosh this quilt is sure beautiful. I love that extra hand quilting in the border - it really amps up the specialness of the whole project. Your label made me smile, and I'm sure it does the recipient. Who wouldn't smile when they read "Grandma Gretchen"?! Covered in your love - there's nothing better. Happy New Year to you, and thanks so much for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne
