I'm starting a new SAL with Chookyblue being the enabler, encourager and instigator!
My quilt is going to be a combination of designs. Here is a link to Chooky's quilt and here is a link to Tazzie's quilt. My quilt is a combination of the two, hopefully I'll be able to make the quilt in my mind materialize into a physical quilt.
The blocks are going to finish at 9". Since the GO!Me cutter I won in the drawing for participating in Denise's SAL, comes with a 3" finished HST die, it will be put to immediate use.
First I ran the 6 layers of fabric through the cutter.
Now I've removed the plastic cover and you can see the cut HST sections.
Here is what it looks like with the excess outer edge fabric removed.
I didn't have time to sew a block together but here is a preview.
I did take the time to do some math, I need 30 blocks. This isn't going to be a huge king sized quilt but a small queen sized quilt.
As of now, all the HST corners are going to be brown fabrics but I do plan to use a variety of other colors for the straight section. This is also a good way to use up various pieces of background fabrics.
I'm going to try to get all the brown fabrics cut for the HST's so they'll be ready to sew.

I love churn dash - wonder if....
Sure, join in the SAL. Everyone is welcome, happy stitching!
I think you will be very happy with the accuquilt I was on the fence for a long time before I got one
You're got a head start on the SAL and I do like where you are going with your block. I've got my churn dash UFO out and am starting on my blocks and sashings. Win-win!
I've never seen a churn dash I didn't like! Your pink and brown combination looks fabulous! Will love watching as this comes together!
Wow, you won an Accuquilt cutter. Congratulations! Have fun playing with it.
Accuquilt sure looks to make things easier. Have fun.
It is letting me comment! 🙌 yippee! I love civil war fabrics and your churn dashes :). Kathi
That is a pretty combination Gretchen!
So pleased you joined us in the churn dash sal....... That first ones looking good......
Do you like the cutter?
I am so late in commenting. I am happy for you that you won the cutter! Do you save time using it? Great win! I like the colors you selected for the Churn dash. Hugs
So happy you received it and have put it to use already.Prior to receiving my cutter I avoided hst's like the plague, now I love making them. You can chain piece for hours. If you alternate your fabric colors before you cut it goes quicker, then you just pull them off 2 at a time and they are ready to run under the machine. They are also great to have for cutting scraps or recutting fabric you have cut wrong. Love your fabrics for this block. Thank you for linking up and thank you again for sewing along.
