My king sized Double Delight flimsy is finally finished! I first posted about Double Delight on February 1st so I haven't been working on this quilt as long as it seems.
It was a little breezy out when I took the photos but I got a picture of the whole quilt.
This flimsy is BIG! As of now, it measures 110" by 122" but that will shrink during the quilting. The size of this flimsy is why I didn't hang it on the porch display line, it would drag in the flowerbed and I wasn't going to take any chances of it becoming soiled. You will have to accept my clothesline as a 2nd choice.
As I said earlier, I designed the 9 patch border myself. Bonnie did not include a pieced border with the quilt pattern. The border is not perfect, it figured it out with paper, pen and my calculator, but I am pleased with it. I felt quite creative!
One inch finished background borders run along each side of the 9 patch border to give the idea of the patches 'floating'.
The quilt top is now at the long arm quilter, no way am I going to attempt to hand quilt this flimsy!
Double Delight is a free pattern designed by Bonnie Hunter. It is one of her older mystery quilts and is found at the very bottom of the free list. Here is a link to a picture of her Double Delight.

it looks wonderful but I wonder you hand quilt so many of your quilts what keeps you from quilting this one?
So glad you got the flimsy done! I love it Gretchen!!!!

Love your colors. Sew classic.
Dear Gretchen,
Your washing line is perfect for the photos of your quilt. Love the way you extended the pattern and Double Delight grew into a much bigger quilt. After finishing a big one three and a half months ago, it is a wonderful top. The work that goes into it is a great amount and time to make. Bonnie Hunter patterns are amazing to use up fabrics and scraps. Looking forward to following your quilting adventure on this one. Love the colour choices, absolutely beautiful.
It is absolutely beautiful! And the 9 patch border is awesome! Love it!
It’s GORGEOUS, Gretchen! I can’t believe you “whipped this up” in just a couple of months. Your border looks perfect.
What a beautiful quilt, and I think you did a great job on that border! Thanks for linking up to TGIFF!
Your quilt is beautiful, and I love the 9-patch border that you added!
It's too big and I wouldn't get to it until next winter. I want it on my bed now!
I had all those 9 patches sewn ahead of time, the double 9 patches were very fast to make.
Beautiful quilt, and the patched border is perfect. Nancy A: SewingGranda@gmail.com
Spectacular! The 9-patches framed with the dark border makes it more of a showpiece than if you had stopped with the pattern. I can see why you are anxious to see it finished and on your border!
What a gorgeous quilt - the amount of work just put into the tiny 9 patches is phenomenal. I certainly understand why you're having it machine quilted by a professional. Your hand quilting is wonderful, and certainly relaxing over many evenings but a quilt like this needs to be on your bed now! Can't wait to see it fully completed...
Wow! Great job
Double Delight is looking fantastic! It'll be great to see it once your long-armer is finished! :-)
It's looking great, such a big job with all those tiny pieces!
Wow, that's amazing how the border just adds the special finishing touch to this design. You did well to finish it so quickly,I'm impressed..
Double Delight is stunning, Gretchen and your border is amazing. Looking forward to hearing how you will quilt it in the future. Have a very lovely weekend. Happy quilting.
Love the border you made, that makes your quilt more recognizable from those of others.

I thought I had commented on this one, but who knows. It is a beautiful quilt Gretchen! Love the way you did the colors and the 9 patch border really makes the quilt! I do not blame you for sending it out! I have one that will be for our California King - am I going to quilt it - NOPE! Going to the long arm quilter! Hugs
