Since I've met my goal of finishing 3 UFQ's before the end of the year, I've turned back to finishing other projects. One of my RSC project for 2021 was 16 patch blocks. Time to get a quilt made with them.
That is what I'm making now, neutral puss in the corner blocks! I need 31 of these neutral blocks. There will be sashing and cornerstones added the blocks.
Both sets of blocks have been pieced using 2.5" squares.
I've pulled the darker of the 16 patch blocks to be used in this quilt.
This is a quick and sloppy photo of the blocks without the finishing sashing in between the blocks. It will be busy but hopefully the neutral fabrics will keep eyes from going all over the place.
I have plenty of 16 patch blocks so there will be a 2nd quilt coming from them but I'm not sure how I'll sew those blocks together yet.

I just love 16 patch blocks. I've got two more in progress at the moment, I think I'll just keep making them as a way to use up scraps. The puss in the corner blocks are great for scraps too.
Oh, that's a neat way to use up 2.5 inch scraps. I like Puss in the Corner as the alternate block for the 16 patches. A Puss in the Patch quilt! I also like how you will be using different settings for the 16 patches too.
Congrats on making some progress toward finishing up one of your RSC21 quilts, Gretchen!!
looks great - I need to figure out what to do to finish off the 36 patch blocks that I have made this year - make more or do an alternative block
Three UFOs dond already and now you are powering away at number four! As well as finding time for your beautiful hand quilting, great going, Gretchen.
This looks so pretty and colourful.
16 patches are sew versatile! Love where this one is headed. Happy stitching.
It is pretty, Gretchen!
I love 16 patch blocks, and that looks like a great way to use them!
16-patch blocks are such a good way of using up squares of any size. Good layout idea!!
I love seeing what people are doing with 2.5 in. scraps! Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
Wait, what? You finished your goals? Yay!! Woot woot!! I love the little 16 block , very cool pattern!
I would love to try it! Stay safe and sew on !
