The scrappy blue puss in the corner flimsy I pieced in January has returned home from the long arm quilter. Lori Null did a lovely job with the quilting. Appropriately the quilting design is called cat paws.
I used 2.5" strips to make this quilt, the blocks finish at 8". Blue puss measures 78.5" by 87" finished and will be gifted to our oldest granddaughter the next time we visit.
A close up of the quilting on the front of the quilt.
A stained glass view of the back side. The sashing and cornerstones make a 9 patch effect.
The backing fabric color is more of aqua colored than blue.
Last week my Friday finish was a panel I made into a crib quilt. Here is a link to the Prairie Moon panel challenge, you may view all the finished panel quilts and vote for your favorite. These are some beautiful quilts!
I write my posts ahead of time. Even though this post is publishing in May, most of it was written in April. Our younger grandson had fun running through the snow we received midmonth.

Yes! The perfect quilty complement to the design: Cat Paws!
What a cute quilting pattern - perfect for this quilt. I love blues - and this one is just perfect in Blues!!
I love the simplicity of the block into a gorgeous quilt. Is the design your own or did you use a pattern?
Another gorgeous quilt Gretchen, a beautiful gift for your grand daughter. You never cease to amaze me with your productivity!
Beautiful quilt finish, Gretchen!!
I didn't use a pattern. The center square is cut at 4.5". The sides are 2.5" by 4.5" rectangles with 2.5" squares. The fabric dividing the blocks are 2.5" by 6.5" rectangles with 2.5" cornerstones. I don't buy patterns for easy quilts. Go ahead and use the pattern for yourself if you want to. The blocks sew up fast.
Your quilt is a beauty, Gretchen. I did not know the name of this block; how interesting. Have a lovely Mother's Day weekend. Happy quilting.
Gorgeous! I love this scrappy beauty. Pinning!

I always enjoy hidden messages in quilts, by selecting blocks or FMQ motifs that add to meaning. So, using Cats Paw for Puss in the Corners is purrfect.
Wonderful quilt!
I think puss in the corner isn't a good name, a more accurate name would be squares in the corners. I do remember, puss in the corner was a game the Ingalls girls played during the Long Winter. Probably 150 years ago the name made more sense.
As a lover of blue, I love this quilt! The quilting design is just right for it.
It’s a great quilt! I’m sure your granddaughter will be thrilled! Thanks for the pattern details too!
