Six green Dancing Stars were pieced this month. I was surprised by the variety of greens in the solids box. The center blocks have darker green that is harder to see in the pictures.
While I was rooting through the solids box, I came across some black fabrics to be used. I wasn't sure though if they were black or a very very dark navy blue. I used them anyway, the variation of background fabric will add some character to the quilt.
The pattern for Dancing Stars can be found here.

that is a nice pattern - I just saw another something like this one
For my eyes they are all black. It is a beautiful and complex block, the black background makes the stars shine. Great job, Gretchen!
You don't see a difference in the picture but in real life there is a difference, not much but it's there.
These little stars look so effective and I really like them in the solid greens.
I have a really dark blue solid in my drawer that is hard to tell like that, too. Those are really neat blocks!
The black background really make these blocks sparkle!
Hi,
Very pretty stars...have a great day!
Dancing stars? Looked twice and realised the middle row was stars too, very clever and interesting.
I think I would have a tough time coming up with such a nice variety of solid fabrics. Beautiful blocks!
It's always so interesting to see what project you write about each time you blog. Lots of projects on the go, it seems, good on you.
Oh Gretchen, your Dancing Star blocks are just stunning with the black background and in solids. Well done.
Those stars are twinkling while they dance!
Dancing stars is such a great pattern. So many pretty greens in yours! Having a little variation in the background does add nice texture.
Such pretty scrappy stars. I love scrappy backgrounds so I'm behind you on that, for sure! Have a great week.
It's so interesting how the two "sister" blocks look very different from each other with only the change in green-color orientation!
