I started quilting the blocks of blue Stars Around the Garden. I decided to not custom quilt the individual blocks but quilt them using an overall design. Here is the quilting from left to right.
The bottom corner applique is finished. It will be stencil design quilting until I am up to the top of the quilt.
You can see the texture of the grid quilting on the quilt blocks. I could reach a little farther then the center. I'm pleased with the way the grid looks.
The right side border, again the applique has been quilted. Stitching in the ditch around the applique just makes it pop.
The stencil is called Baltimore Grid and was purchased from the Stencil Co. It measures 16" and is #SCL-268-16.
Two Amaryllis started blooming this week, happy bright red. Their picture was taken in front of Grandma's Embroidered blocks wallhanging.

The grid quilting looks fabulous, as does the quilting behind the applique flowers. How pretty your red amaryllis look showing off in front of Grandma's Embroidered wall hanging. How lovely to see these exquisite embroidered flowers once again.
Your quilting looks lovely and so do those amaryllis so bright and cheerful.
I really like how the grid quilting complements those blocks. The quilting on the applique is very pretty also. Then again, your quilting is always gorgeous.
I love your grid in the blocks and I love your outline around each applique piece... lovely work Gretchen! Thanks for sharing such great photos too! Kathi
The grid pattern does look good! Lovely amaryllis blooms too.
Beautiful texture in your quilt, the grid and the cable feathers are lovely.
Thank you for sharing, and linking up today!
That grid patter looks spectacular on your blocks! Such pretty blooms!
So, so lovely!
I love the grid on those star blocks, and the background feathering behind the blooms looks fantastic!
the grid looks good as does all the quilting on that block. I think a lot of us save our Amaryllis bulbs that we get for Christmas and try them again the following the year I know besides mine I have seen several others do that as well.
Such a beautiful quilt!
I like the grid - different than the common cross-hatch. Your quilting is lovely.
That grid stencil is wonderful. You can use all or most of the lines to fit your block area. Lovely work.

Beautiful quilting, and great stencil! As always, love seeing your work!
I love seeing the progress on your quilting, Gretchen. Your quilting is amazing. Your embroidered quilt is beautiful as well. Thank you so much for sharing not only your quilts but also where to get the stencil. Have a lovely week.
Your hand quilting and applique is always so lovely.
I have that Baltimore Grid stencil, too. Isn't it fabulous? So much quicker than drawing an X and measuring the distance between all of the straight lines. It looks stunning on your pieced blocks and I love the contrast between the curved lines of the appliqué and feather quilting versus the strong, straight lines of the piecing.
Stunning!
Ooo! I love the look of the feathers behind the applique. Beautiful!
Thanks for the link to the Stencil Co. I need to get some grids for myself. Love seeing your quilting, as always. :)
