Another embroidered block for the redwork Christmas quilt is finished. This block was embroidered in a solid dark red and is a Gail Pan design. It was supposed to have a long stem but I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be, so I shortened it so it would fit in the square.
This is how far the quilting on Floral Triangles went this week.
The right side border.
Since I made my quilt larger than the original pattern, I made duplicates of each block. I made sure the blocks used different fabrics and colorway.
This is probably my favorite design of all the triangles. The other triangle with this applique was in purples. I love them both!
I tried to use a variety of colors in this quilt. This combination is my least favorite.
I love the dark aqua of the darker leaves but the light leaves and the stem just don't do it for me. Fortunately the block doesn't stick out when you look at the quilt overall.
The bottom half of the applique block is quilted.
I'll probably quilt the pieced triangle this evening, then start on the next applique block.

Lovely redwork! Do you think it was supposed to be birds in a tree? Anyway it looks great! Your quilting is so beautiful.
I love looking at all the variety of fabrics and colors in this quilt. It's one of those quilts that is fun to sit under and just look and look and "pet".
I'm pretty sure your embroidery project figure is a tree. The shorter stem still works for it. Happy stitching!
I love that sweet little redwork piece. As usual your quilting is beautiful. I can understand your dislike for the lighter aqua color, but the block looks pretty nonetheless.
Always sweet to see Floral Triangles! I think those circles in an applique design always are my favorites. I like darker shades and tonal fabrics and have trouble with anything lighter or pastel. But, I do love pastel quilts I see others make. I think scrap quilts are enhanced with some of those lighter sparkling fabrics, however.
I love your redwork block you completed... these will be sew fun to work with Gretchen when you have them all done :)
I am sew glad you got some quilting in this week too! Have a great week ahead!!

I do love all the tiny circles on that block - they are always worth the effort put into making them.
I love your quilting!! So precise and uniform. Are those 2 Turtle Doves in your redwork?
Those grapes are probably my favorite too. But all of your triangles are lovely. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
Love the red work block!
Your quilting is beautiful and so is the embroidery.
Love your embroidery and applique. Wish I had the patience for it. Great job!
I looked up the design in the book, it's called Birdsong and it's the corner embroidery in a table quilt. They birds are just birds, I don't know which kind. One of Gail's signature designs is the use of the cute birds.
That is a lot of beautiful handwork!
Cute embroidery, and lovely hand quilting
Beautiful quilting texture for these embroidery blocks!
Love that redwork! I think it's two partridges in a pear tree :)
Beautiful quilting! I also love the redwork!
Your quilting is just so beautiful, something for me to aspire to :-)
The floral triangles show just how lovely your hand quilting is. Kudos to you! The redwork is wonderful, too. Excellent.
