Sunday Stitching

This week I felt rather uninspired for my hand work. I did finish the hand quilting on the row I was working on last week.

Now the whole first row of Floral Triangles is completed!

There are 7 rows in this quilt. The next row should go a little faster since there are more pieced blocks in this row than applique.

I didn't even touch the leaves for the center medallion of Stars Around the Garden.

Last week I said I'd show you some of the trees around our home. The sky was very overcast and dreary when I took the photos so they aren't as brilliant colored as when the sun shines directly on them.

These 2 trees are in our yard.

There is a  chartreuse undertone which adds a lovely contrast to the orange leaves.

Wouldn't these colors make a lovely quilt?

This old maple is huge!

She's already lost a lot of her leaves but she adds so much color contrast to the other trees along the lane.

Oh thank you for showing your beautiful trees. I do miss the fall color now that we live in Texas. Maples just can't take our climate! Your quilt is going to be stunning!

I love your quilt shots for your post this week and your colors in chartreuse and light green and gold are great! Are you getting the cold weather we are? We are in the 30's now but in the 20's each morning when I wake! Kathi

Since much hand quilting was accomplished, I can understand your lack of inspiration. However, the quilt is absolutely lovely and the colors are charming. The hand quilting adds so much. Hope you get inspired so your stitching becomes more enjoyable.

I just love how the hand quilting makes the quilt seem to come to life. I know myself that near the middle of hand quilting a quilt, I get a bit bored and want to do something else. I persevere and before you know it the quilt it done. Would love to get one on the frame, maybe it will happen this week!!!

We had some lovely fall colors, but then the rain storms came and stole them all away!

There are so many lovely colors of Fall leaves that I would just love to pick up a bunch and take them to a quilt shop and march them up to fabric!!

Your hand quilting is so immaculate, Gretchen and of course, all the points are perfect. So lovely. Your landscape looks just like ours here in rural Ontario.

Looking good Gretchen. I love the pictures of the trees with the golden leaves! I really miss seeing and enjoying the change of seasons. When I lived in Virginia it was so nice to watch the seasons change - even the blizzard, ice, and snow during the winters! Hugs

Floral Triangles was on my bucket list to make Gretchen and I was surprised to see they know longer sell it???? Oh well I will just have to make up a design of my own instead. Love love the colours you have used in yours and it is looking even more beautiful as you quilt it. Cheers Glenda
