Still Quilting & Lucy Too!

I did work on a different segment for Lucy. I need 2 of these sections and the first one is now completed.

Here is what I accomplished during week 4 of hand quilting the Pastor's Attic quilt. I didn't make it to the end of this row. I've started quilting the applique blocks and I really like the contrast of the stencils I added.

This is the right corner. All 4 outside corners have the same stencil design. You can see the heart there though. I'm also stitching along the edge when I've marked with a stencil.

Going to the left, I've used half stencils for the outside edges of the center. The first one.
Second one.
The third design has been quilted and I'm working on the background diamonds and around the applique.

Stitching around the applique makes it looks so nice. Quilting really does bring a quilt top to life.

I'm not going to show the outside borders. They're quilted with diamonds and look the same as last week. Next week I'll  take a long photo of the completed row and show you close ups of the applique.

Our trees have been beautiful the last couple weeks even though this maple doesn't seem to show it's brilliancy in this photo. It seems like it took forever for them to change color this year. It rained last week, now the leaves are falling and soon they'll be bare.

I love your Pastor's attic progress and addtions to your quilting plan... looks totally awesome Gretchen... and Hurrah for finishing 1 of 2 parts on your Lucy project this past week too... I have a blog post I need to write today and will also link it to Kathy's... I was having a bit of technical difficulties... but fall is alive and well here also.. love that you know the names of the trees that are changing colors :D I am not that good with horticulture but I sure appreciate the beauty it adds to our yard and lives! Have fun on your Pastor's Attic stitching and enjoying mother natures beauty today! Kathi

Beautiful texture! How do you get the lighting just right to show off your quilting? The half stencil designs are gorgeous! The appliqué really puffs up when you quilt around it.

I love your Lucy block! I've never seen one with the squares inside (instead of the elongated honeycombs). That's very cool! :)

the quilting is looking terrific and adds so much to the quilt. Enjoy seeing your Patchwork of the Crosses blocks - I took mine out last night and put it at the foot of the bed for when my legs get cold at night

As usual your quilting is stunning. It really adds to the quilt, as you say. Our trees took forever to turn also but I think part of it was a wet September and October. Now we wait to see what happens with winter. Mild is ok as long as we get one or two good freezes to kill off some of the bugs.

Beautiful quilting Gretchen. What thread are you using and what do you use to mark your lines. :-)

Your quilting is beautiful; the stencils and shapes you are using really add to the quilt. I also think your Lucy Boston is going to look lovely - that's another quilt on my to-do list :-)

Every single time, you get so much more quilting finished than I could. :) I love it! It's inspiring! And yes, the outline quilting makes the appliques pop into life in a really superb way.
