Slow Embroidery

I'm still working on the Darlene Zimmerman embroidery panel. The last several weeks I have been spending the evenings sewing with my machine more than normal which means less embroidering progress.

I always save all the french knots until the end of the project. I don't know why I do this, somehow I got started this way and have kept on.

What a lovely flower planter! I save the French knots until the end too.

French knots get in the way if they are completed as you go. Maybe that is why you save them until the end. This pieces is so pretty. It gets more beautiful with each update.

Lovely project. I like doing French knots so add them in as I go!

I don't mind making the french knots, maybe it's because they bring the embroidery to life and I enjoy seeing the design change before my eyes?

when I have done anything with French Knots they always get done before I need to move the hoop to another section I didn't know Darlene Zimmerman had embroidery patterns

I generally finish everything off in a section before I go on, but beads and French knots at the end also makes sense. They don't get squished by the hoop as much that way.

Oooh, this is so pretty--I always see embroideries like yours and think of my Grand-mere--embroidery was the first craft she taught me. I love french knot-making..each one is just slightly different, you know? hugs, Julierose

I do the same with the french knots. Maybe it's so our threads don't get caught on them. Love your embroidery, I spent two hours online Saturday cause I have been in the mood to do some embroidery just haven't found one that says I am it!

Oh this is so sweet! I have a couple of these panels -- I may need to dig them out and give them a go! French knots are my favorite; they're fun to stitch. I can see doing them last. They're so delicate! :)

I leave my French knots to the end because the hoop can stretch them out of shape if they are in the way when you move the hoop.

Very pretty embroidery work Gretchen. All I need to do is some embroidery on Nesting and am just not in the mood. I too would wait for the knots at the end and agree with Julie - they can get messed up!

Your embroidery is so beautiful! I think I will begin saving my French knots for the end as well - that way they hopefully have less chance of getting "squished" for misshapen! Thank you for sharing!
