Darlene Zimmerman Embroidery

I had several hand projects I could have worked on while visiting Deanna in Utah but I decided to pull an older project that hasn't seen the light of day for several years, the Darlene Zimmerman embroidered blocks.

I completed one block while I was there . . .

and started a second block.

Now it's in storage until I feel like embroidering again.

I'm glad that hydrangea block is finished, I didn't like that block as well as the others.

Here is a link to more information about these blocks.

Last week my posts were about the changes in our lives, selling the milking herd and moving off the farm. Someone mentioned they didn't remember seeing a picture of the farmhouse so here is the farmhouse to show you.

The farm buildings are on the top of a hill including the house. This was a good home to raise children, especially boys!

This picture was take while standing in the curve of the driveway. The maple trees are starting to put on their autumn color.

This picture is looking away from the house but these trees are so beautiful, I couldn't resist taking their picture.

The tree stump was a maple that was damaged in a storm several years ago.

  10. I am the one who said that I didn't remember ever seeing your farmhouse. Thank you so much for including it in this post. I love that kind of house, but I also love your new house. What a difference between the two! I vote for your new house as the house in which to grow older happily and safely.

  14. They are lovely embroidered blocks indeed. With the amount of hand quilting you get through, it's no wonder these blocks have been overlooked. I'm sure you will work on them again soon snen the fancy strikes you.

  15. Beautiful embroidery blocks! The farm is a beautiful place. Hopefully the changes are going smoothly, though leaving that place has to be a bit sad. Happy stitching this week.

  16. What a journey for you and the Farmer. Your new house is wonderful and looks like it is all one level. An excellent house to grow old in. (Nope, you guys aren't old yet -- but you've planned ahead!) I just read all three of your life changes posts. The trees took my breath away. Gorgeous. I do like a gorgeous tree. Here's hoping you both find joy in retirement and something to keep the brain and body active. (Hum, I know you have quilting....)
