While I was piecing the blocks for blue puss in the corner and Climbing Jacob's Ladder, I ran strips through the sewing machine and pieced 76 string X sections. Four sections make one block so I've pieced enough for 19 blocks. I need 24 blocks to make a quilt.
I pulled several solid blue fabrics and cut side triangles. I have another large piece of fabric to cut into triangles. It is a little brighter blue so hopefully it will cheer up these blocks. I won't sew any of the sections together into blocks until I've have enough sewn for the 24 blocks.
String X is a free quilt pattern from the Quiltville website.
This will be a charity quilt for the MCC Comforter Bash which will be held (hopefully!) in November. I should have this flimsy finished in plenty of time to be counted in the Hands 2 Help Comfort Quilt Challenge organized by Sarah from Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

ReplyDeleteYou're almost there! It's amazing how quickly these leaders/enders come together. And even more exciting that this will go to someone in need.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love how fast leader/ender pieces go together? Someone will love this pretty quilt. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteGreat string project.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great string quilt - the blue makes those strings just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been wanting to do an x string! Yours is great!
ReplyDeleteOh, wonderful use of scraps. I love string quilts and am always looking for different ways to use them. I haven't made a string X yet so I guess that will be next with my strings. I love your blue background.
ReplyDeleteSEW glad to see that you are getting a head start on your H2H quilt, Gretchen!! I need to do the same.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming quilt. Good use of of strings.
ReplyDeleteI am forever amazed at what can be done with scraps. Scrap quilts have always been my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI thought your quilt looked familiar. I have one I did a few years ago with two shades of purple in place of your blue. Hum, seeing yours I wonder if it is time to make another one. You are so smart to start early on the Hands 2 Help challenge.
ReplyDeleteLove that string X!
ReplyDeleteThat is a charity I've not heard of, will have to look them up. I'm willing to bet this will be finished in time. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down.:)
