Odds & Ends About Retreat

It had been two years since I attended a quilt retreat. I didn't remember how to organize everything in the car but I finally got everything in.

Here is a view of the trunk. I always take my personal sewing chair. It eliminates any backaches.

And the backseat.

Of course I didn't need everything but I didn't want to have to run home to pick up anything.

There is a resale table at the retreat and I did a bit of shopping.

The bundle of green and brown fabrics is so pretty! The autumn fabric has become curtains in an upstairs bedroom. I have a granddaughter who will love the purples and teals in the jelly roll. The pack of charms are such cute fabrics, perfect for a crib quilt and everyone needs more neutrals.

I had planned to display my Floral Triangles for show & tell at the April 2020 retreat. After two years, she finally made it to there. When I have a large quilt to show, I like to use it on my  motel bed, so much more prettier than a motel bedspread. And yes, I'm a one pillow girl. The rest are on a shelf in the closet.

I needed a new pair of slippers so I stopped at Yoder Department store on the way and bought these lovelies. They're nice and warm and will be used all the time in the winter. They were my way of celebrating being able to attend a retreat again!

    1. They loved my Floral Triangles. Several other quilters had made this pattern also but I have been the only one to make double blocks to make a queen sized quilt. I'm also the only one to hand quilt it! I learned the lesson about the chair years ago, I have to sit higher than most people to use my sewing machine. Back pain is not enjoyable. Happy stitching!

    1. I am within easy driving distance if I do forget something but I prefer not to run back and forth. My slippers keep my feet nice and warm, love them!

  3. Oh my, your blog is an absolute feast for the eyes! Your quilt is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, and love your slippers. Tempts me to make some for ME. I haven't been to a quilt retreat in probably 5-6 years, but remember the ones I went to with fondness. Thank you for such a lovely blog!

    1. My slippers have hard soles which are nice if I need to run outside for something. They'll last me a long time.

  8. Wow! I thought I packed a lot for retreats. Was this a weekend out of town retreat? I've only been able to attend in town retreats but hope someday for one out of town.

    1. It was an 'out of town' retreat but I live only 30 - 40 minutes away. My husband always asked why I need to stay at the motel since I live so close. Sleep deprivation is a by-product of a retreat for me. I'm simply too tired to drive home at midnight and my body always wakes up at 5 or so anyway no matter what time I go to bed.

  13. Lovely quilt, and pretty additions to your stash. I'm glad things have started up again for you; we just went back into partial lockdown last week. All events have been cancelled. All because 13% of the population doesn't want to be vaccinated!

  15. wasn't wonderful to be able to retreat with other quilters? I attended one in early October. But I'm skipping one in March of 2022. Boo hoo but there are too many people who attend other events at the retreat center. The food service area and dining room are way too crowded. Sigh. It would have been fun to attend but it won't be this year. Glad you had a good time. Your quilt is wonderful. It looks far, far superior than anything supplied with the hotel room!
