A lot has been completed on Welsh Beauty since it's my sole focus for hand work.
When I'm quilting, I like to quilt the cross hatching in an area first then fill in with the blue thread. It's just my preference.
The above picture is the right corner.
I've quilted 5 of the swags.
I get so much pleasure watching the quilting design come to life. You can see the stencil marked on the fabric but quilting adds such depth.
The cross hatching is 3/4" squares.

I get so much pleasure visiting you, Gretchen, and seeing your exquisite hand quilting each time! 'Tis truly sublime!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is so beautiful, I can understand why it gives you such pleasure! Love your finished Lady Jane flimsy, matching the border must have been a real task but it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh my, watching your progress makes me want to complete more hand quilting. I love the dimension of those swags in juxtaposition to the cross-hatching.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful work! I always enjoy 'visiting' and seeing what you are up to - and the progress of your quilts and quilting!
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely work of art - but I bet you are glad you didn't have to be the one marking that design! I know I would mess it up and have to keep redoing it.
ReplyDeleteI love how your Welch beauty is coming all by!!! It looks sew awesome Gretchen!!!

Such a piece of art! I love to see your progress, it's a fabulous quilt Gretchen!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your hand quilting and linking up with Patchwork & Quilts ;)
Beautiful! What a treasure this will be. It's interesting to see how the thread overtakes the puffiness of the batting (something we probably all see as we hand quilt, but something that is more evident on a white quilt, I think). Will you use this quilt on a bed when it's finished?
ReplyDeleteYour quilting, as always, is perfection. I always enjoy reading about all your gorgeous projects,
ReplyDeleteIt's so satisfying seeing that beautiful quilting progress and watching it tame the puffiness ahead of the stitches. It's many years since I hand quilted and many more since I used a floor frame, but your project is making me nostalgic
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, wonderful, gorgeous, you are a professional!!!
ReplyDeleteYour handwork is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I like to see your progress.
ReplyDeleteI love how the cross hatch quilting makes the flowers and feathers pop out so well;)) this is just gorgeous work -- it must be so rewarding watching it come to life...
