The Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale was held yesterday and blue Stars Around the Garden was auctioned in the quilt auction. She brought $3000!!!! What a sense of gratification, even the farmer was impressed!
I am thankful that I could play a part in raising funds to be used in various programs for MCC.
The pattern for Stars Around the Garden is here.
I won't have a quilt for the auction next year since Welsh Beauty is in the frame. She's going to take all winter to hand quilt. I do have an idea running through my mind for the sale in 2 years . . . of course another blue & white quilt.
OH MY GOODNESS!! I gasped when I saw that number! Gretchen - your generosity is amazing. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful 2 people really wanted this quilt, the bidding went up fast! I have no idea who bought the quilt, the purchaser was an online bidder.
DeleteIt is worth every penny of this and more. I'm happy that someone else appreciated your work
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt and a generous gift to the auction. I’m not surprised it sold for so much money.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome for you... I bet your hubby was impressed! You did great on this quilt! Can't wait to see what you donate in 2 years time too !!! Happy Stitching on Welch Beauty!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your quilt receiving a generous amount for a worthwhile charity!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Gretchen, what a great feeling this is for you!
ReplyDeleteI've just been over to the website and looked at every single quilt. Most of them sold for what I thought were 'worthwhile' prices - perhaps not enough to cover the true cost of materials and labour but sufficient for the quiltmakers to feel that their efforts were acknowledged and appreciated. This is so pleasing. It upsets me when handmade craft pieces are auctioned for ridiculously small prices. Congratulations on having your work attract such a price. I hope that it will become a family heirloom for whoever purchased it.
