Even More Blue Stars Around the Garden

Piecing 12" finished blocks go fast. Here are the last six blocks for my blue Stars Around the Garden.

While I was piecing the last several blocks, I kept looking at all the blocks on the display wall. Not all the fabrics pulled together like I had hoped but they were nice enough except for that block on the top left row. That just didn't make me happy. I want the fabric around the center to highlight the center. That fabric just make it look blurry, so I redid that block!

Doesn't this block look more interesting than the other block? Just the center of the block was reworked, the outside HST's are the same as before.

Once the cutting table is cleaned off, I can get to the sashing. I'm going to add yellow corner stones which the pattern doesn't call for. I need to finish the center applique medallion first though.

  3. Hi Gretchen! Oh, the addition of the yellow cornerstones will just be the perfect addition, I think. It will pull out those bits of yellow among the sea of blues. I also love the variety and depth of blue fabrics that you've used. Is this a quilt for yourself? I would have a hard time giving it away. Thanks for linking up this week! ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. I have plenty of quilts for our bed and the grands have plenty of quilts too. I'm actually planning on donating the finished quilt to the 2021 Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale. I have a year to get it completed and hand quilted. If I don't get the quilting finished in time, it will go to the 2022 relief sale. In past years I've donated wallhangings, this will be the first large quilt. That's the plan anyway.

  14. Your stars are so beautiful and crisp, and the fussy cuts are worth the effort to draw the eye to the centre of each block. Thanks for sharing at Clever Chameleon.
