When I'm not quilting, I cover the quilt with the striped cloth on the back.
Last week I showed the quilting design between the applique blocks. Now here is the quilting in the applique.
Second Block
Third Block. The pin is to show how high I've quilted.
Fourth Block
Stencil in between 4th and 5th blocks
Fifth block - This block took the longest of them all so far. Those spaces in the vase took awhile.
The hearts in the corner stencil show nicely.
And the left side border.
None of these pictures were cropped. I had trouble downloading the pictures and was very happy they didn't end up in cyberspace again!
I also EPP'd a different section of Lucy. I need seven sections like this one. This is very a slow project. I'm so glad I decided not to make a whole quilt, I'd rather be hand quilting!

I love your applique quilt. I'm still a long way from getting to the quilting on mine, but I'm considering a plain diamond background after seeing how nice yours looks.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear you on "Lucy". I had grand plans at first, but I think she's going to end up as a 9 block table topper!
A nine block table topper is larger than mine is going to be. Mine is going to be 6 blocks.
DeleteI like basting up the EPP pieces, but whipping them together is tedious to me, so I completely understand!! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't mind whipping them together, I just didn't get excited about the project. I've made 2 other large EPP projects and those I really enjoy because I was excited!
DeleteI made Lucy but it stretched out over a year or more while I made other things - I didn't EPP that one though but used regular hand piecing which I enjoy a lot more. I never cover the quilt on the quilting frame and it seems to do just fine - what is the reason behind you doing that - a very sunny room?
ReplyDeleteThis protect from the sunshine coming in the south and west windows, also from any dust. I have grandchildren who like to play while I'm quilting. The cloth also protects from any grandchildren if they should decide to drive their tractors on the quilt when I'm not looking.
DeleteThere is nothing better than to quilt an appliqued quilt! Your photos remind me how much fun I had quilting Baltimore Garden. Your stitches are so beautiful and really are bringing your quilt to life! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour applique stitching is so beautiful! Do you ever quilt over the applique, or do you usually quilt around it?
ReplyDeleteOn this quilt I'm just quilting around the edges of the applique. But I will stitch on top of the applique when there is a circle in the center. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteBeautiful work. I wish I had the patience to hand quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting designs really inspire me, Gretchen, your work is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour hand quilting looks so lovely. This is going to become a treasure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful job you are doing with the hand quilting! I'm thinking of setting up my frame this week. I have so many quilts to quilt, and if I have the frame out, I think I'll actually sit and quilt. Otherwise, I sit and piece, and then just have more quilts waiting for needle, thimble and thread!
ReplyDeleteEPP may not be your favorite work, but you sure do a superb job with it. Great progress with your quilting - it's moving right along!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting! Love your appliqué too
ReplyDeleteLOVE the quilting. The blocks are JUST GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting designs are wonderful. An heirloom quilt in the making for sure.
ReplyDeleteLove the choices you've made for the hand-quilting. It's truly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your inspiration and link to Show and Tell Monday / Bambi
ReplyDeleteYou hand quilting is lovely. I haven't done any of that in a very long time.
ReplyDeleteI love hand work and try to always have some for when I travel. English paper piecing is the exception. For some reason I really don't like to do it.
