Sister's Choice is a free pattern from Bonnie Hunter. My quilt measures 90" x 100".
I added sashing in between the blocks because I didn't want the hassle of repressing seams.
This project was one of the projects on the original list of ten. Another one is crossed off the list! Just three more to go!
The black fabric with purple flowers has been in the stash for so long. The date on the selvage said 2004, time to be used.
The pale blue cornerstone fabric is left from Baskets & 9 Patches.
What's the next project? It's Scrappy 9 Patches, another scrappy quilt.

This is such a beautiful finish. Congratulations on it's completion.
ReplyDeleteI had this one on my list for awhile but then took it off when I put Tumalo Trails on it instead - I like how it turned out.
ReplyDeleteAnother very beautiful finish Gretchen, 3 in a few weeks what a great feeling that must be. I do like how you have displayed sisters choice its like seeing it in a lovely magazine? Some one is going to be very lucky to have that in their home its a beauty, love the colours. Take care and hope you are not near the fires that sound horrific?????
ReplyDeleteThe fires are out in the western states. I live in the great lakes regions, just a little southeast of Lake Michigan. No fires here, just a lot of rain this summer. We got 2 inches last week and are supposed to get more tonight. Thanks for your concern though. It's fun moving the quilts around the yard and seeing what works for nice pictures. I have to either take the pictures in the early morning before the sun is completely up or else wait until afternoon when the east side of the house is shaded by the trees. Brilliant sunshine is love to see but not good for taking photos. Happy stitching!

Hey Gretchen!! Your sister's choice turned out GREAT!!! And how nice to have not just a flimsy but a finish that will be completely off your plate now for your friend to quilt and her kid to enjoy :) Have a great rest of your week! Kathi
ReplyDeleteGretchen, I went to Bonnie Hunter's site to look at Sister's Choice again. Did you add sashing that the original sister's choice did not have? How wide is the sashing.
ReplyDeleteYes, I added sashing because I didn't want the challenge of matching those seams in the stars. I cut the sashing 2-1/2" so they would finished at 2".
DeleteThat is beautiful. I love all the scrappiness.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great. I may have to consider this pattern for a pile of left over fat quarters. Denise@fortheloveofgeese
ReplyDeleteThere is every type of fabric in this quilt. A lot of the pieces are from my mother's stash so there is old, old, old fabrics in there.
DeleteWhat a wonderful quilt and gift! Life has had me in the longarm mode lately and can't wait to get back to embroidery and piecing. Fall show time is intense. Thanks for sharing your treasures. Carrolyn V
ReplyDeleteI hope your summer is going well Carrolyn. I've thought about you often.
DeleteI got almost a whole bolt of that black with purple flowers fabric a while back.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finished top! And it’s huge! Thank you for linking up at TGIFF!
