Another Baby Quilt

My great-niece Kate is having a baby this fall so of course I made her a baby quilt. For this quilt, I used the Moda Love Charm Quilt pattern for the center then added borders.

As you can see, I didn't use a charm pack, I pulled fabric from my stash and cut the sizes needed.

The quilting is the X and + design. It works well on quilts but it is time consuming. Mark the X in the diagonal corners then the + on the horizontial and veritical center. The plus lines are the pivot point.

The star looks the same whether on point or horizontial but you can see the quilting better when the star is orientated on a horizontial set.

The finished quilt is 50" by 51" which is a rather random number but that's how my quilts often turn out. Using this close quilting also made the quilt shrink.

The backing was made with fabrics from my stash.

I didn't have enough of the yellow floral for all of the binding so a slightly lighter yellow fabric was use. Look at the binding in this picture, can you see the difference?

When I planned this quilt, there was supposed to be a yellow square in the corners of the patchwork border but that didn't happen. I'll need to remember that for the next quilt. This was an easy to make baby quilt, I have plenty of fabric in my stash to make many more.

This is the 3rd baby quilt I've made this fall using fabrics I already had on hand, this always makes me happy!

Blogger has come up with an new problem now. When I click on a name from the Blog List, gobbledygook pulls up! 😖 Then later it had corrected itself, it's just frustrating.

  2. Same here on the gobbledy-gook (it's a download of something from the site you've clicked, in its html form). Once I clicked on one of my own posts, Blogger decided to play nicely. It's always something! I also discovered that I couldn't respond to comments on my own blog until *everything* had loaded up on my page, which is sometimes extremely slow to load.

    That baby quilt is gorgeous!

  6. Such a happy quilt, the yellow caught my eye and made me smile. Blogger glitches have started to worry me. I think eventually it will become obsolete as they push AI.
