Before I left for Phoenix, I quilted a 6" swath across the center of Welsh Beauty, I'm on the downward path to the finish! It took me 7 months to get to the center of the quilt, 7 more months would be sometime in December. Maybe I'll have this quilt finished this year!
Here are pictures of my progress from the left side of the quilt to the right side.
As usual, here is a link to the first post about Welsh Beauty.
You can't hurry this kind of quilting I guess! It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to be on the last half of the quilt! It is stunning!
ReplyDeleteso very pretty
ReplyDeletewhat size is this quilt and are your lines a half inch apart or an inch
ReplyDeleteThis is a queen sized quilt, 90 by 108. The cross hatching lines are 3/4" apart. If I only worked on this quilt, it would make faster progress but I enjoy applique and sewing also.
DeleteGorgeous work. Enjoy the process!
ReplyDelete7 months. . . I didn't realize it had been that long. But, as a hand quilter myself I know to do it right it will take lots of time. The quilt (and hand quilting) are beautiful
ReplyDeleteHalf way to the finish and it is gorgeous, Gretchen.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching, Gretchen! The time it takes will be worth it!
ReplyDeleteWelsh Beauty is gorgeous! Love seeing your progress!
ReplyDeleteHalf way there, way to go!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't feel like 7 months that I have been enjoying your progress on this piece. It makes me realize just how much time beauty takes to achieve. I just ordered a small whole cloth to work on. I figure I should try something small to see if I like working on it.
ReplyDeleteYou are wise to start with a small project. I have a whole cloth crib quilt that needs to be hand quilted. That project is going to wait quite awhile.
DeleteSo, so many quilting stitches already stitched in your Welsh Beauty; and so, so many more quilting stitches to be stitched. For once, I am in a hurry for Christmas to come, just to see Welsh Beauty in all her finished glory.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely not in a hurry for Christmas, I want to enjoy spring, summer and autumn! Quilting is just something that can't be rushed.
DeleteWelsh Beauty is a stunner so far, Gretchen. I look forward to seeing the big reveal in the future. I have no doubt you will have it completed by December.
ReplyDeleteThat 6” swath is fantastic!!! I love the poofy nature of your batting and stitching too! Strong work Gretchen!!
ReplyDeleteKathi
Definitely a labor of love, but it's going to be so worth it!
ReplyDeleteI love watching your progress and seeing your gorgeous quilting. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteYour hand quilting is just gorgeous!!! It will be SO worth the time invested.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Gretchen and so glad that you had a great visit in Phoenix! Retreat coming up! Hugs
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be spectacular and you should savor every stitch of it. I completely understand the need to alternate between other types of sewing so you don’t get bored and never finish at all.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely gorgeous!!! This quilt will be fantastic when it's finished!
ReplyDeleteHi Gretchen,
ReplyDeleteI love the little curl that is in the feathers. Your work is such an inspiration to all of us. Thank you. Hugs, Judy
