I made the picture extra large so you could view it better.
I love the texture when I gently move my fingers across the quilted section.
And here are pictures of the swags and the corner.
The swags look so elegant!
I like all the quilting design except for the zigzag there with the feathers.
If I had thought ahead, i would have changed the zigzags into curves but I didn't so they are they way they are.

Looks downright beautiful, Gretchen!!! Are you stitching with blue thread, or is that just the color of your washout lines?
ReplyDeleteThe swags, feathers and flowers are blue thread. All the crosshatching is cream thread but it looks blue because of the blue marking. Once this quilt is finished and washed, you'll be able to see what it truly looks like. The finish won't happen for a long time though, I'm estimating this quilt will be in the frame for 2 years, maybe longer? Thanks for commenting!
DeleteYou say lovely, Gretchen, I say gorgeous, amazing, superb etc etc! Truly, the quilting on Welsh Beauty is a triumph. I can just imagine the beautiful texture all your quilting is giving this quilt.
ReplyDeleteLooking wonderful! I love seeing your progress on Welsh Beauty each week.
ReplyDeleteyou say it will be on the frame for two years - how large is it? Also I can't quite tell how you have it on your frame - is the top rolled on to a bar or do you have it just laying over the batting and have it pinned? I know your set up is different than mine
ReplyDeleteThis is a queen sized quilt, 90" by 108". If this was the only hand project I had going, it would quilt faster. But I have a hand applique project in progress and will be adding an EPP project into the mix too. It will be finished when it is. I'll be happy if it takes less than 2 years.
DeleteYou can be very proud of your work, it's gorgeous! I love the swags too ;)

I think once you add the feathers that I can glimpse above that zig-zag, you really won't notice it any more. Your quilting is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous work. You must be very pleased how well all your needle and thread time is being spent.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the feel of the quilted areas. I think that's my favorite part of hand quilting: running my fingers over the competed parts. For some reason, it's so therapeutic. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! Wish my hands could tolerate doing that!
