Since I had the squares box out, I decided to make some 16 patch blocks using whatever I found in there. I pieced 10 squares.
I've got quite a pile of the blocks and I'm starting to think about how I want to finish these blocks.
I could just put sashing and cornerstones in between them but then sometime, somewhere I saw a quilt that had used the sashing and cornerstone idea but had added an alternate puss in the corner block. I loved how that quilt looked so that is what I'm going to do. First the 16 patch blocks -

I like Granny Squares
ReplyDeleteJumbo Granny Square blocks look fantastic and I love the 16 granny square with the alternate blocks, great scaps blocks for a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteDear Gretchen,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea. I am inspired to make a granny square. It looks like you had lots of fun making lots of blocks this past month. Looking forward to seeing your blocks all together with the squares and the blocks. With the crazy wet weather and hot and very humid conditions we are spending more time indoors. Hopefully August will be one with some beautiful days, no smoke in the air and some sunny days. Have a wonderful weekend.
The 16 patches will work nicely with your puss in the corner blocks! I'll enjoy seeing your granny square quilt, too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great

ReplyDeleteSuch a clever idea and a great way to use up those squares. The two blocks look great together.
ReplyDeleteAnxious to see how those granny square blocks play together. I cant quite imagine alternating with puss in the corner blocks. I'm sure you will make it work fabulously.
