There are a total of 16 Lady Jane blocks pieced. They sew fast since all the pieces were cut ahead of time. Just 14 more to go. The background fabric does not have a yellow tint like the picture shows.
The blocks are not trimmed yet. One time I read on someone's blog that if you sew accurately you won't need to trim the blocks after you sew them.
That is true but I have never had blocks turn out perfect. I'd rather have some extra to trim off than have the block be too small.
Here is the pattern for Lady Jane.

Your blue Lady Jane blocks are beautiful! I love the variety of fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove those pretty blocks, and I love the name! I agree, I'd rather have more to trim off. I guess I need to adjust my quarter inch guide on my machine, because I frequently have blocks that turn out too small.
ReplyDeleteYou are right,Gretchen. Better more than less.. Beautiful variety of blues.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are beautiful! Great job!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! That scant quarter in can be elusive! I love your blue fabrics!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteYour Lady Jane quilt will be beautiful when
done. Love different colors of blues. Have
a great day!
I love your blocks, I adore anything HSTs!! I rarely get perfect blocks! LOL Thanks for linking up with To-Do!!
ReplyDeleteHi Gretchen! I totally agree with you about the trimming aspect. Who sews perfectly ALL THE TIME?? Maybe some do, but I surely do not. I don't mind trimming pieces or blocks at all - I find it rather calming. Your Lady Jane blocks are turning out great! I love all the different blues you're using. Are you following the pattern you shared or doing something different? ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteI'm using the pattern design but I've changed the size of the blocks to finish at 7.5". My quilt will look the same as the picture but just larger.
DeleteI always try to make my blocks with scant 1/4” seams so I can make sure they end up the proper size…. To trim to the perfect size! Lol!!! Go Gretchen… beautiful blocks! Kathi
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the mix of blues and whites. And your piecing, as far as I can tell, is about as perfect as it gets!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful blocks. What a lovely quilt they will make. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
ReplyDeleteLove your blue and white Lady Jane quilt blocks. This is a beautiful pattern. I used to follow Sentimental Stitches quilting years ago and somehow lost touch. Thanks for the link. It is sew nice to find this again. I even made a few of the Sally Post Floral Sampler blocks with an online friend when they were free on her blog. My applique was beginner stitches. I just looked and found the blocks in my pattern archives on my computer. Now, I wonder where in my closet those blocks are? Thank you for sharing in my linking party ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look so deliciously cool and fresh on this HOT morning.
