Circle of Squares

The circle of squares block take so much more background fabric then it does colored fabric so I didn't use much pink from the 2.5" strip box.

I made two blocks, a lighter pink and darker pink.

The blocks finish at 12". Here is a link to the pattern.

I am linking to a post from the Crafty Quilter. In this post she gives links to free quilt block and applique designs. We all love free patterns! I'm sure there are some wonderful patterns that would be perfect for a RSC quilt in case you are at loss for an idea.

  2. This is a fun pattern. Lots of negative space, so it give each square of color room to shine. Thanks so much for sharing the link.

  7. I love those blocks, too! You're right, though, it takes a lot of background fabric. Are you using whatever low volume pieces you have for the backgrounds?

    1. I'm trying to use up background fabrics that are large enough to make several blocks but not enough for a larger project. This quilt is going to have a variety of background fabrics.

  8. I like this block! Background might be an issue for me! Neutrals are scarce in my stash! I’ll have to remedy that in 2021!

  9. I was going to do the Circle of Friends block for RSC but the background was an issue. I'm not sure I have enough large enough pieces of fabrics that would suit the backgrounds. I'm using my low volume pieces for my shoo fly blocks.
