I finished the Happy Little Things flimsy this week, now she'll go into the 'to be quilted' closet until I'm in the mood for machine quilting.
The original pattern was nice but not what I wanted. I was just in the mood for something different and I got it.
The flimsy measures 43-1/2" by 45-1/2". The little 9 patches measure 3" finished and the layout is 14 blocks across by 15 blocks down. Don't ask me why the length isn't 3" longer, it just isn't. That's just the way quilts go sometimes.
I took some close up photos for you to see.
I've even sewed the binding so that's ready. I had planned to use the dark blue fabric that sashes some of the embroidered blocks but there wasn't enough fabric. Don't worry, I had plenty of other blue fabrics to use.

Lovely fabric choice to coordinate with those beautifully embroidered blocks--I really like this setting..

Hi Gretchen! I wasn't worried one bit that you wouldn't have a different blue for that binding. Not one bit! HAHA! I like to keep all of those supplies together as well so that once it is quilted I'm not going, hmm, where is the binding strips or what fabric did I use??! Thanks for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt top. Well done...
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely quilt top , I just read somewhere about making the binding for the quilt when you make the top and its a good idea. Sometimes in the past I've er used up the fabric that could have made the binding for a top and so been caught out. Kathryn Quilts
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely little quilt! I like the combination of embroidery and patchwork, and the little 9 patches are so fun!
ReplyDeleteGretchen I love your 9 patch quilt with the inset blocks... so unique and cool! I have to give myself something fun to do at the sewing machine AFTER the quilting is done !! lol I also do binding when I make a top :) Sew nice once quilted to throw on the binding and stitch it down. :D Congrats! ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet design for those pretty embroidered blocks! I love the random placement and I may try this with some farm panel blocks I have in my stash.
ReplyDeleteA really nice setting for your embroidered blocks. Love the colours and the layout.
